Now hold on, it’s $7mm after that and then $18mm in year 3, which is certifiably insane.
Don’t let those facts get in the way of his melt. Come on man.

Exactly. He'd get a 4th at worst as a comp pick b/c he's going to sign a huge extension. We'd likely get a 3rd.
Did you not read that was their plan. Once he stopped participating and taking coaching they saw the writing on the wall.
I hate it but in this case it's better to get him out now.
They got maye and mathieu on the cheap. Williams got top dollar.

Lesson: Don’t frick Mike’s girl

We restructured Taysom at least twice so that’s why his cap hit is high. You know we do this so why act like it’s so egregious? We got value for the restructures and he kept us in the playoff hunt last year.

He's probably going to be the best centerfield safety in the NFL either this year or next. That's safety money, now.
I mean look at what we're paying 2nd/3rd rate safeties like Maye and TM7. Williams + young guy costs less and is a better combo.

Malcom Jenkins is taking up almost $4M of our 2022 cap
Never liked the Jenkins signing. I knew that would cost us Williams. I’m still mad we lost him. He’s been relatively injury free and a homegrown talent. You don’t lose those type players.
The Hill contract more than covered the difference between Honey Badger and Williams.
Williams and Maye should be the starting safeties right now.

This stinks, but between the wanting big money and not taking to coaching kind of forced his way out.
He made his name as a nickel in the league though, will be interesting to see how his career progresses, or is he the defensive version of Jimmy Graham.

Wouldn’t we have gotten a compensatory pick when he walked next year anyway?? Sucks

Hence why I said people defended both of his insane deals

It was always bad and it's only gotten worse.

Oh shite what is this worth? A lesser draft pick?

No. They didn't pay top dollar, but the 2 weren't cheap by any means.

I think you’re discounting Maye and Mathieu
We won’t ask them to be Marcus Williams, the defense will change. We have 3 extremely versatile safeties(Maye, Mathieu, PJ Williams), I’m good with that.

Would you have preferred to tank the season?

I liked marcus williams more than some that never forgave him for the Vikings game.....BUT I will say to me he's never been that elite ballhawk type/game changer safety that warrants the huge money

sounds like Justin Evans could be more in-the-mix this season?

hope the return is respectable.
CGJ is solid player, but he wasn't dominant by any means.
I mean this is mostly true. We liked him so much because of the fire and energy he brought to the defense. That said, he wasn't a good enough player to commit a massive contract to. Perhaps he proves us all wrong with the Eagles, but I'm don't think he will.

Marcus Williams is a douche. I still find it hard to believe that was just a bad play on his part. Way too egregious
