Cooks is going to be lethal in the Pat's offense

La Confora originally said Butler was included, then took it back.

Now he's acting like an under the deal trade could be in place

Not sure why taking the 18th is a worse option than 32

Getting Butler was a must.

How I feel. Frick that first round pick. But I have a feeling Butler isn't signing that tender for awhile and is probably pissed that Gilmore got so much money.

It was likely the best offer still on the table

Simply not trading him was still an option. I'm obviously not part of the locker room, but I don't think Cooks complaining about his role and a few douchey tweets was some irreparable situation.

And I'm sure Cooks is going to act thrilled (which is reasonable, he's going to the best team in the NFL), but he absolutely could see games like the Rams one where the Pats score a ton of points, but he has little production.

And even though I rooted for them in the SB, Pats are now my least favorite team in the NFL outside of the Falcons and 9ers.

It's obvious we were getting rid of him no matter what

That kind of has to be the assumption now. Before there were only the rumors. Now this is more concrete that they just let him go like this.

I 10000% think that we draft OJ Howard with that 32 pick. He wants that Athletic TE badly.

The entire reason that Peyton settled For a pick at the end of the round so that we have the excuse to take his offensive player.

Once the dispute went public we lost a lot of leverage. That falls on all three WRs involved.

Trade is fine, head scratcher that we could have had the 18th pick but there must be more to that story. Solid value for Cooks.

Don't really like this. Unless we really get lucky Cooks would have contributed more the next couple of years than whoever we get late in the first.

No. The fact was he was getting traded. He was not going to be a part of this team any longer. If we could have got the 18th pick we would have taken it. We couldnt and got the 32. Moving on.
