Would rather an upgrade > Cam.
We signed two guys for the future

Tyree Wilson is on a 1 year deal and the other would be? Undrafted Michael Heldman?

Bringing Cam back takes minutes from those guys... Thats part of my point of "upgrade". If they could be better then they should get minutes over the 37 y/o. And the 37 y/o will bitch if he doesn't get minutes because his contract is incentive based.

So we are willingly holding back the "two guys for the future" by doing this.

Glad Cam is back but I care more about the future than the past.

(2) of Granderson/ Wilson/ Cam probably won't be on the roster next year so i'd rather see the battle between Grand/ Tyree over giving Cam any minutes.

You care more than anyone including the Saints it seems.

Oh and those two pudknockers you mentioned have not earned sh!t. Not one damn minute. They will work for it like everyone else. Right now they can't hold Cams jock.

I don't have a 10+ year personal or business relationship with Cam so it would make sense why I care way less about appeasing him or him coming back. He's a long term employee so there's more consideration than "we have better options".

But we probably have better options and I don't like that the other guys now get even less playing time.

His personal legacy and accomplishments are more important to him than a ring. He can’t get his numbers on a good team

How are they going to prove it without playing time? So we go into next offseason letting Cam walk and Tyree walk because he barely played? And Helman just doesn't exist at all?

I have 1 person arguing we have 2 guys for the future and 1 guy arguing that we don't have shite and Cam is the best move.

If we like both Heldman/ Wilson then there's absolutely no reason to have both Grand/ Cam on the roster.

We actively tried to add Chaisson/ Thibodeaux and apparently called about Josh Sweat.

So yes this looks like a "we didn't want to spend assets for someone better" situation.

Cam was the best for the cost, not the best option. Glad he's back and it is what it is. I hope he has a solid season but gets outplayed by the younger guys. We don't want him to be better than the younger guys.

They would both still be backups behind Granderson/ Young. We have 2 starters and have 2 backups. The 37 y/o is taking minutes from the backups who we hope are future starters. That's not really ideal.

Cam is going to get minutes just based on experience and history. I don't like that. If those guys look better then they should play and the reality is that we probably give Cam minutes regardless. That's what I don't like.

No other team wanted him. No one else beat the Saints' offer. If he'd have gotten a 3 year, $30 million deal with 15 guaranteed, he's be a gone pecan.

Sounds like you’re creating a problem that isn’t there and getting pre-mad about it. You really think Staley is going to play Cam over the younger guys if he’s producing at a much lower level? What are you basing that assumption on?

Anfernee Jennings will play edge. Pretty loud for not knowing what you’re saying

Cam had 10 sacks last year, he’s a proven rotational piece. Tyree will hopefully see a Chase-type resurgence and Jennings is great depth. They will be fine with Cam taking his 40% snaps or whatever it ends up being

If the other guys are producing at a higher level then Cam shouldn't play at all. Yes Cam is going to get minutes even if he doesn't look great.

If he doesn't look good and we bench him then how do you think he will react in reference to his incentive based contract without playing time?

It definitely opens up bigger issues compared to simply testing out 2 new guys and figuring out who to keep between Tyree/ Helmand/ Granderson.

More likely he gets cut with bringing Cam back. Unless we want both older guys on 1 year deals now taking minutes and production from young guys. Sounds awesome.

Fan favorite, all time Saint, still producing with 10 sacks last year, signs a team friendly one year deal…Dantheman504: this is terrible because…

Let’s enjoy the moment, buddy.

I like the way this came down. We shouldn’t be signing our older veterans just out of a sense of “loyalty.“ I like him, Jordan and I like what he’s done for the organization. But that doesn’t mean we should overpay him or sign them to a long-term deal at his age. Let him go out and see what the market bears and if it makes financial sense for us to resign him at what he can get in the market, then do it. Otherwise, let him go.

I would have loved to get Demario Davis back as I thought he was a good player and was great in the community. However, he signed with the Jets. Good for him. At this point in his career, we don’t need to be overpaying him, or give him any sort of long-term contract that could come back to bite us in the arse.

You keep saying this as if it’s fact and I still don’t understand why you think it’s such a certainty.

I imagine he would act like a professional like he has the past 15 years.

The guys you listed are not worth getting worked up over. If they show promise they will get snaps. Staley and Moore aren’t going to sacrifice winning games to protect Cam Jordan’s feelings

The last five seasons have broken a few brains on here. There will be angry people posting if the Saints do well and exceed expectations this season.

Doesn’t really matter but that doesn’t jive with anything that’s transpired this offseason. Of course he’s going to say that. He’s not going to admit the market he expected wasn’t there
