I actually think it can tell you a lot, especially if they aren't prepared for it. I would assume the response they were looking for was poise and quick thinking.

Yea, but what are you really gonna know about a kid after a 15 minute interview? I think they're getting much more info out of these interviews than most teams.

No, but they can show a lack of respect for the coach. They can show resistance and pride, by copping attitude.

Thats why they're coaches in the NFL and you're not.

apparently they're the only coaches in the NFL who are attempting this. remember that

a google-type interview would likely tell you a lot more about the prospect than this

also, it gives coaches time to see how players answer questions about their past. missing that chance is such a waste

You're missing the point... what do you think these players are going to do during the interview? go off an threaten to kick the coaches arse?

I'm pretty sure that the coaches have a general idea of what responses they are looking for and it has nothing to do with kicking somebody's arse.

i think it's funny

it's a gamble, however

it may be the big thing for the next couple years (and believe me, if we have a rookie blow up and talk about how that worked, it will be the "biggest baby born in louisiana" of the saints next year)

*ETA: this probably stems from draftees becoming robots in interviews. it's a reaction to shake things up

If they're going to act like that then they dont deserve respect. Respect is earned, not given.

I dont care if you have a "warrior mentality"

He has the chance to make millions of dollars. They can ask me anything in any format they like. At the end of the day I would know in April I am hitting the lottery. I think is a great technique to see how a player responds in a pressure situation.

Yeah, hilarious when they are all FA's 5 years from now and the only thing they know of the saints is their 15 minute retarded unprofessional interview...

so they're going to look back on their 5 nfl years with the saints and only think about a 15 minute interview before they were on the team?

They're your coach (possibly), that automatically earns respect. I think attitudes like yours are the reason they do this. To weed out the "I know im just out of college and you're about to pay me millions of dollars before i achieve anything, but you need to get on your knees and kiss my arse" attitude.

Saints organization is in WAY better shape than the Chargers and Colts were at the time.

I read somewhere that this is exactly what te thought process is with a few NFL team reps. They don't want the answer that the player's agent had them memorize. They are trying to think outside the box.
