even worse for upcoming season

Carr won't matter if we can't stop or at least slow down the run

Looking like the 1st pick gonna have to be dline now

If the run defense sucked last year then I’m okay with rebuilding it. Losing players like Onyemata and Tuttle shouldn’t cripple your franchise. Sign two mid tier free agents and draft two rookies. Rebuild what was broken.

It shouldn't, but it does when you invest multiple first round picks on DL players who don't make any impact.

Okay then let’s overpay two DTs who couldn’t stop the run then

A Payton staple. Draft project DEs and be cheap on the DTs. Doesn’t work well when your project DEs never develop.

We couldn't pay them if we wanted to b/c of our cap situation.

And signing some mid-grade DL vets doesn't mean we'll improve and we haven't shown to be great at early investment in DL.

We don't just need DT. Our edge position is a mess, too.

I really expect the first three picks to include a DE and DT.

Other than Cam Jordan, it’s been one miss after another on the D line

I can see that DA loves drafting defense high but that’s what he is a D coach

I'm not saying overpay them.

The way you worded it made it seem like yeah, just sign two guys and draft two guys and all is well.

It’s clear Dennis Allen wasn't happy with the d line performance last year and chose to totally clean house. Nielsen left and with him so will most of the D line.

It’s not “easy” to replace these guys but it’s not like we are trying to replace Aaron Donald. Some smart free agent signings and drafting (holding my breath here) and I think the D line will improve from last season.

Addition by subtraction. These guys sucked last year.

Actually even more addition because you get to play them twice a year as well.

maize smith, come on down. i know we don't have a true nt in our defensive scheme, but smith is really explosive for such a big dude. pair smith with dexter or benton and get a true 3tech later in the draft or through fa. sign another guy that fits in fa.

rebuilding our dline from last year is not a bad thing.

i highly doubt it'll be worse. we'll have better dt's and probably a better overall defense this year.
