10 mil a year for Juwan Johnson????

It's probably much less in guarantees.

I actually like juwan Johnson when he is healthy.
Over $21 million in guarantees. Laughable.

Never. If you point out facts it will be ignored.

Rams tight ends (just two) last season:

Colby Parkinson $22,500,000 $7,500,000
Tyler Higbee $17,000,000 $8,500,000

Parkison had 30 catches for 294. Higbee had 8 for 66 lol.

because on paper this is baffling

again its not.

juwan was one of the highest rated free agent tight ends available.

keeping him keeps continuity as well as helps our cap situation.

juwan is a pretty good receiving tight end that has both dealt with injuries as well as inept offenses sabotaged by coordinators flipping flopping and injuries to both qb's and o line and to any capapble wr's on the edge at times.

he got paid exactly what he was supposed to.

Whats funny is how this board is ten years behind on the market rates for players by their positions.

Some numb nuts was freaking out about a guard getting an 80 million dollar contract today.

In an extremely weak FA class with an upcoming draft that is very deep at the position. Not the year to overpay a 29 year old TE who has never performed.

mean did you see some of the contracts for tight ends this yr. Guys you've never heard of have gotten 7 mil.

Josh Oliver is an elite (possibly #1) blocking TE. He's a 1-way guy too, but is dominant in that area. Johnson is a 1-way guy and mediocre in that area.

I believe Parkinson is in the same boat as Oliver

It doesn't help our cap situation. It just moves the hit down the road to a future year.

Johnson is anti clutch. Would rather have just drafted someone and signed a bargain bin replacement

Fact.

And this is telling that we probably arent planning on going for a tight end at number 9.

JJ is likely better than what we can get in this draft past the first round also. Not that we may or may not still draft a tight end to develop etc.

Naw, bad idea.

Naw its not. See above re: his market rate.

I wanted the Saints to resign JJ.

Dalton Schultz is making 12 million per year.

Total/year:

Pat Freiermuth $48,400,000; $12,100,000
Dalton Schultz $36,000,000; $12,000,000
Noah Fant $21,000,000; $10,500,000

Cry all you want. Karens gotta Karen.

Edited:

Colby Parkinson $22,500,000 $7,500,000
Tyler Higbee $17,000,000 $8,500,000

Both on the Rams.

This board is fricking stuck in 2015 I swear.

Decent points but...

This board has been proven right about the need to blow shite up and pay the piper. This is just more of the same Loomis strategy that will lead us to 7-10 or worse for the next 3 seasons. We'd prefer to be 3-14, 7-10, then 11-6 with a reloaded young team. Loomis has had us in purgatory (with a clear downward trend) forever now. 4 years is an eternity in the NFL.

We have more than $30M in cap impact at TE already and you think we should add more to it?

Nobody said it was. I said that teams would not overpay an average or below average TE when they can get a better value in a deep draft class.

P bean and Chad have never explained why they are so excited to be a 9-win team at best and 2nd in the division.

Would be a pretty weird move to draft a TE high with the guys we have on the roster and what they are making.

Even if an elite blocker, no one is going to pay a TE 20+ mil unless they think he can also put up some numbers AT LEAST on Johnson's level.

It’s really not that he’s a horrible player. I wish he would get on the field more but he’s actually decent for an UFA but why give him 3yr $30 million???

you offer JJ $6M/year and if he’s not happy you let him walk. The most balls he’s ever caught in a year was 50. We can find another UFA tomorrow
