Higbee is a good example of why you keep juwan and bet on the career projection thru the heart of their career which the next 2 or 3 years is for juwan.

definitely an overpay. The same Mickey crap. Dead money makes you sign someone for TOO MUCH money. Hes worth 7 million a year. Gets hurt a lot too

If you're betting on projection you pay less, not more. People usually get paid for what they have actually accomplished and he hasn't done much.

He should be getting 7ish at most. He's getting 10. I think that is an overpay based on the data we already have

I'm not real crazy about this one, but the targets are vastly in Schultz's favor. Perhaps that's bc he can get open better. Just looking at last season though, JJ was better at catch %, success %, tds, yds/game, yds/rec, yds/att... hell, everything

bunchie, you're just randomly typing words and numbers and discounting juwan's production in a largely shitty offense with shite weapons around him with a few years of revolving door qb's.

What's going to be the big change?

Our scheme last year wasn't shitty. Our weapons were, and they will be shitty this year, with a mediocre QB like Carr.

Again, like with your "continuity" comment...why? We already saw this didn't work.

*ETA: in our magical first 2 games last year, his total production was: 2 receptions for 26 yards and a TD on 3 targets

We can only base it on what he has done and its just not warranting 10 million dollars a year. He has never been particularly good.

Hopefully a change in systems helps him drastically, but its still the same shitty QBs throwing him the ball.

To earn that contract he needs 850ish receiving yards and 8-9 Tds at LEAST.

I don't understand how someone can look at this roster and think this team will be any good this year regardless of the coaching

Players get paid on potential all the time. Not saying agree with it, but it's true

2021 gave them a false sense of a window based on the defense. Then they convinced themselves that but for Jameis/Taysoms injuries in 21-22, we’d have been contending for something. So, we signed Carr.

I know and I get that, although I disagreed with it.

But NOW? We know this won't work.

Olave is a concussion machine and our OL was smoke/mirrors to start the year with no depth. It revealed its true quality by week 17. Our interior DL is weak with a DC who has major problems stopping the run. Our secondary is decimated while losing the coach who was elite at drafting/developing them.

It's like Chad saying Juwon had bad weapons last year. That's 2025 and likely 2026. 2/3 years of this new deal.

Keep in mind he was going to count close to $7M against the cap in dead void charges this yr if we didn't extend him. So in terms of cap management this is favorable if you consider that as an offset

This is the thought process justifying stupidity and the death spiral of a lost decade. Even if we’re lucky enough to draft a franchise QB in 26 we’ll have no money to surround him with every stupid FA move today.

Fair enough, but he wasn't a TE entering the nfl. He's still very athletic, and he's coming off his best season.

You are projecting. I have no emotion involved in the Saints anymore.

This purely, objectively, a bad deal on paper. My numbers are a bit off, maybe 750 and 7 TDs looking at league wide stats, but I'm sorry, I simply will not get this deal ever.

He could go on to have a great year and it at the time of signing, the deal still doesn't make sense.

JJ is literally the only TE on the market on the right side of 30 who is getting paid exactly what he was expected to get paid. Moore has proven that he knows how to use a receiving TE, so maybe we give him the benefit of the doubt? If JJ was garbage as some have cried, we would not have signed him as we don't need his capspace.

JJ had 7 tds with Andy Dalton in 2022. He’s come up with some big plays over the years forgotten by the non watching fans.
