Trade both of them. I really don’t want to pay either of them at this point.

The Saints need draft picks and cheap rookie contracts during the rebuild.

Quit extending veteran contracts. Go younger and cheaper and get under the cap eliminating Loomising.

Loomis will probably throw in a 3rd just to ‘even’ out the trade…..

If they trade Shaheed it would be the biggest mistake the Saints have ever made.. And the Saints have made some whopper mistakes...

Rasheed Shaheed is a decent deep threat. Nothing more. He’s 27 years old and hasn’t become a dominant player. His most productive season in 4 years is for a whopping 719 yards. In no way would it be the biggest mistake we’ve ever made FFS.

What WR is better on the team right now?

Who cares?

Having a team full of mediocre to bad WRs doesn’t make a mediocre to decent one unexpendable.

Excellent argument :clown:

Like I said if you get a 3rd you take it and laugh. Thats unreal business turning an average to above average undrafted deep threat into a 3rd rounder.

People act like he’s some up and coming Tyreke hill type.

This. He just isn't that physical and doesn't have the best ability with contested catches. He's just a deep threat. If you get a 3rd, you take it

If you get better than the comp pick return for shaheed, you take it. If not, let him walk and enjoy the comp pick. Same for Alontae Taylor.

And I’m a huge Shaheed fan.

This doesn’t make the Vele trade less shitty; but part of the valuation is that Vele is under contract for 2 more years. Shaheed needs a new contract after the season

Okay, close to 20mil, because the going rate for #2WR are ranging between 15-25mil depending on the team/situation.

Rashid got a 5.2mil ERFA tag this year.

2 years ago put up 700 yards as a #2 WR; last year injury shortened but was on pace for just a few yards shy of 1k. This year on pace for nearly 900 in this anemic offense.

Shown to be a VERY good deep ball threat and a solid #2 overall.

Deebo and all of his wonky issues renegotiated for 17mil
Jerry Jeudy last year signed a 3/52.5mil
Cooper Kupp 3/45
Christian Kirk and that ridiculous 4/72mil
Stefon Diggs and his 3/63.5mil (despite a step down)

Higher end of things:
DeVante Adams 2/44
Calvin Ridley got a 4/92mil (high end)

If you get a 3rd yeah you take it. Value wise, contract wise, building wise. Yes and I'm a huge Sheed fan.

Shaheed is a #3 on any decent NFL team.

If he’s looking for #2 money, trade him while you can, and wait until the offseason to trade Olave, if you can’t lock him up on a reasonable deal.

If the saints resign Olave to a big extension it might be time to stage an intervention.

I’d rather whatever compensatory pick we get for just letting Olave walk than commit any real dollars to that guy.

Olave is at best a Calvin Ridley type number 2 WR. We are about 15 other good players away from needing a decent number 2 WR.

Plus - you’ll see Olave play about 8-10 games a year once he signs an extension.
