Wasn’t expecting that
“I'm told the Saints are open to trading RB Alvin Kamara, per source.”

All for it. He will not perform to the level of whatever contract we give him. Let someone else overpay.

RB, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
Josina Anderson reports the Saints are "open to trading" Alvin Kamara.
Ex-ESPN reporter Anderson has many strong connections in the player community. This would qualify as "stunning but not surprising," as the Saints and Kamara have not seemed anywhere close to on the same page with his expiring contract. Due $2.133 million in the final year of his rookie deal, Kamara has piled up touches for the Saints while taking a beating. He dealt with ankle and knee injuries last season and has dealt with a concussion. Headed into his age-25 campaign, Kamara knows the time to get paid is now. Kamara's departure would leave a gaping hole in the Saints' offense, but the win-now franchise is short on cap space. They also have a plug-and-play backup on the roster in Latavius Murray. This one could actually get interesting.

Come again?
Also didn’t Underhill just report that they were close on a deal? This is probably just leverage talk. But I’d definitely be open to trading him.

Would definitely be shocked if they traded Kamara. I’d love for him to stay, he’s a big part of the offense.

Was about to make a thread on this, if they are smart, they would claim Fournette and just pound him and Murray into oblivion on teams. Then trade Kamara and get at least a 2nd rounder and prob mid rounder back. We would still have T Montgomery in that satellite role.
Doesn’t make sense to tie that much money into the rb position. Could be the difference between resigning someone like Rankins. I’d take a healthy Rankins and Founrnette over one Kamara.

This is a business, not a popularity contest. Hold out for too much money and you get the boot.
Not surprised.

If we can get a versatile back , shut down corner and a left guard

Sounds like AK is being unreasonable. Nothing like threatening to trade him to the Browns or Bills.

Trade him to the bucs for Wirfs and Godwin.

In other words he turned down the Saints best and final offer
He wants more than McCaffrey and unfortunately I don't see the Saints paying that kind of money for a RB that you can likely find again in the 3rd round.
Plus you have to take care of Lattimore and Ramcyzk
Lattimore should be more of a priority at CB because we've seen how bad the defense is with sub par CB play.
