That's the main reason I wasn't a fan of the QB pick. You just drafted an OT to sure up the line. Let Rattler take the helm and then you can see what you actually have in him. If you suck, you get a top QB in 26 draft.
Yup, this is my exact sentiment. Three times as many downvotes as upvotes. Tells you the idiots on here that dint know anything. And by this count, they will be surely drafting a qb next year.
My sentiment is that even if Shough sucks, you have to give him two years to start now after blowing a top 40 pick on him.

That wouldn’t be a tough choice at all. 2nd round picks bust all the time. Look at Foskey lol.
Don’t leave out the number one tight end his rookie year was picked a few spots in front of Fosky and a hell of a defender that we sure could use right now that Doofis passed on in Brian branch was just sitting there.

Shough WAS NOT drafted to be a franchise QB, more of a stop gap situation. And a real chance he will have to start 2025 and hopefully he will then transition in to a competent backup, something we dont have right now
This might be the most idiotic post yet. So we burned a top 40 pick when there was starting caliber talent on the board at several positions to pick a good backup quarterback for down the line?
You better believe he was drafted to be our franchise quarterback or at least our brain trust is praying so…..

Almost like that’s the case if we had waited until next year

Do you select a QB after just burning your 2nd round draft pick on a QB the previous year ???
You the Saints have the 3rd or 4th overall pick next year, that means the QB play was likely poor.

The conversation between Carr and the Saints about surgery or retirement took place before the draft thus the reason for drafting a QB .
Strategic planning and decision or part of any corporate environment.

Yeah…. Let’s a draft 26 yrs old ROOKIE QB that needs a few years to develop !!
Maybe he might be 31 years old by the time he can be Competent !!
WORSE yet…. Let’s WASTE our our 2nd Round (Top 40 ) on the 26 year old…. and pass up players who could start at another position.
It gets even More FUKKD Up…. He wasnt EVEN our top QB after the Miami QB went 1st overall !!
The Saints tried to trade back into the 1st rd to Draft Dart (QB) from Ole Miss but couldn’t do it !!!
The Giants took this route and secured him after jumping BACK into the 1st rd.
Yes indeed…You Sir are indeed very special…
As in Special Ed !!!
***
We should have spent that 2nd rd pick on the highest rated player available who was a NON -QB !!
Let Haener and Rattler compete…..
We still suck… end up with a Top 5 pick and THEN get your QB in a Great Year for QBs.
You just FUKKD away a 2nd Rd Pick !!

The decision won’t be as hard as you think. If Shough and or Rattler play well they will not need another QB. If they do not then the obvious will need one.
But don’t assume if they are picking in the top 5 that they will need a QB. There’s a lot of reasons this team may lose a lot of game and still have the QB of the future in the roster.

Saints don't have a all pro QB. Yes, take a QB until you find one.

Minus the fact that we’d have an impact starter at another position of need filled.
But what’s another hole in the titanic….

So everybody passed on a franchise QB and he was picked 40th?
Not saying he can’t be, just saying with your logic, only ONE team thought he was franchise.

That 2nd round QB would have to look like as good of a prospect in order for it to matter.

Yep….. you have no response to my logical reasoning and strategy.
Just as I suspected !
Thus ended the lesson !!

If a franchise QB is available then there is no choice. You take him.

Essentially admitting drafting a QB in the 2nd round previous year was a big mistake.
Would be quite interesting to see what decision they make !!
Such an easy question to answer. Absolutely you draft a franchise QB if it appears one is there. A 2nd round ain't squat to worry about.
