Didn’t he come in and consult on the draft?

Seems he was more right than wrong on his suggestions.

Tom had to show the Saints were still top dawg

He cannot let the Hornets relocation from Charlotte be a bigger news story than the Saints

Doubt that.

Dave Zeigler is also on staff.

Mueller helped out last draft.

Better evaluator than Loomis, who has always been nothing but a bean counter.

Rumor was he paid off the Saintsation that Haslett was involved with without telling Benson about it. Benson then canned him.

Is it the early 2000s again?

I always thought he was a better GM and talent evaluator than Mickey Loomis.

Lmao. As if this is a good argument

One lucky decision 18 years ago does not mean Loomis is better than Mueller. So Loomis should get a free pass for the rest of his life? Is this Gayle Benson speaking?

Also, Brees was a free agent signing from San Diego who we paid good money for and got lucky on. Most people were unsure if he would ever even play again. Brooks was just a cheap backup who got to start because of injury and no better options at the time. You’re comparing Apples to oranges.

Aaron Brooks was acquired through a trade from the Green Bay Packers.

Loomis failed in setting us up for success post Brees, both from a cap and successor standpoint

But he had sustained success for 15 years built on the back of draft picks and free agency. Of course Brees was the big fish, but Loomis is responsible for arguably two best draft classes of the last 25 years. And his SB team was full of great free agents he brought in

Yes. That doesn’t contradict anything I said. He was still a backup to Jeff Blake until Blake got hurt.

Yep. I think Loomis gets shite on way too much. I completely agreed with his approach of kicking the can towards the end of Drew's career. The pieces were in place and just needed to be held intact.

The opportunity to get Carr really fricked us though. It seemed like the obvious thing to do at the time, but Michael Thomas's self destruction, the OL somehow regressing while also investing draft capital to it, AK's production plummeting and the Defense aging has turned it into a not so favorable position. The cherry on top is relying on DA to navigate us through it.

At this point we're pot committed. Keep patching the holes and see what happens until Cam and Demario retire. After that, blow it up and start over.
