I am all for the veteran declining the award, but I think it would have been better had he done so privately and not make a scene.

So should he have gone to accept the award, and then kneeled in the saints and peoples health face while not accepting it?

That would have been better, as that is not disrespectful.....

Hell, if people stopped booing the players would probably forget to kneel by the end of December

Right? If these dudes want to take it to the big bad offensive bullies, they should stage their own silent protest instead of booing.

What scene? He told a news reporter he wasn't going and why. It is okay for the players to make a scene though, right?

What scene? I mean practically speaking, it's not like the players are standing in the center of the field kneeling and demanding everyone pay attention to them.

Hell, like someone mentioned earlier, if people weren't paying attention to them, i doubt they'd know one way or the other...same way no one seemed to mind allllllll the decades of games prior to 2009 when players didn't even come out to the field, but now a handful of people out of 70K kneel off to the side and folks get all triggered instead of just, i dunno...ignoring them?

Seems a bit fragile to me.

Frankly, it's probably also due a lot to the media, because i've definitely noticed that they go out of their way to focus on the sidelines during the anthem a lot more than before. They sensationalize the issue too.

First, Thank you for not name calling

Second if anyone dies in a police altercation that isn't directly threating the cops that's too much. I refuse to accept the whole "well that just happens" attitude.

Do you really think cops are not a little more edgy around black people and quicker to act wrongly. To deny racism still exists and may be present in the police force is just as disingenuous. Go read the OT or the poli board and you can see it still exists. I guarantee not all of it is trolls. To me personally no amount is acceptable no matter how small.

Is the biggest problem that there are bad and racist cops? No I don't think so because I believe most police have good intentions, but it is part of the problem.

Are there other problems that need to be addressed? absolutely the absence of strong moral leadership in black and by extension most poor communities regardless of any race need to be addressed.

the conversations on how to fix these problems need to happen and denying there is nothing going on will never allow them to happen.

The act of being offended by guys kneeling before the anthem makes one a snowflake. During the anthem, ok, I get it, It’s disrespectful. But you want to move the goal post no matter what they do to fuel your outrage

To your point about no watching or attending - I wouldn’t call one a snowflake for that. These types of people cannot stay away judging by half the crowd in the dome obviously is triggered by pre anthem kneeling. So they’ll continue their Facebook, Twitter, tigerdroppings posts complaining about the players. But on Sunday they’re in their $200 NFL licensed jersey spending their whole paychecks on 8.50 Budweiser’s

Do you honestly think that for any of these instances, that the cop just said to himself, ‘well I think I’m going to shoot a black guy today’?

No one is justifying cop killings that are unjust. They are horrific instances and expecting consequences for their decisions is fine.

Do they have reason to be? The average black person, specifically black male, is at a ridiculously higher statistical rate to be an issue. Is it fair? No, but when you have a culture that glorifies thuggish behavior, there are unfortunate consequences to how people see the group.

Statistics prove otherwise, but using stats is apparently racist too, right?

Again, no one is saying there aren't issues, but groups that refuse to take any responsibility for their own predicaments will always fail.

Conversations are two way streets. I'm liberal, but the majority of blacks and left wing nut jobs are not interested in a conversation. They are interested in lecturing and telling everyone else how their wrong.

When a conversation is genuinely offered, I don't think but a few outliers will be against moving things forward. Until then, keep defending this stupidity.
