METAIRIE, La. -- The New Orleans Saints released a statement Thursday saying it is "unfortunate and disappointing" that a retired Navy commander who declined an honor at Sunday's game has been telling media outlets he no longer supports NFL football because of player protests throughout the league before and during the national anthem.

The. Protests. Are. Not. About. Disrespecting. The. Military.

I'm sure he has his reasons. Like he probably has family or officers under his command who have died for the flag. That's not a snowflake.

Whatever. Give another one to that dude from last week. He looked like he could kick arse.

The Saints were kind of assholes in that statement in the article.

Gotcha. I didn't read the article.

Fights for people to have the right of freedom of speech, angry that they express that right.
I’m really just tired of this shite. Our fans boo the team before the games for kneeling BEFORE the anthem, even though they stand during it. Even that’s offensive apparently.

They boo because they don't want sports to be a podium for social justice. That and kneeling does absolutely nothing to change things. If anything, things have gotten worse because it has caused division.

If he was calling the media to shite on them, they can come back at him.

I don’t disagree with you on the part about it not being the best way to display their message. I agree, kneeling isn’t the best way to do this. But the fact that it upsets people so much is insane to me.

You know that really does not fly with the 15-20% of the people out there that are protesting the games or the 75% of people that booing when the Protest takes place during the National Anthem.
They are choosing to kneel during the anthem in most cases for a reason.

You lost that perception battle a long time ago dude.

He's a snowflake because he finds what the players did disrespectful? They don't get to chose whether their act is disrespectful.
It's like spitting in someone's face and saying I don't mean disrespect by that.
In the end, most of you supporting the players have literally no idea what the first amendment is actually about.
What the players are proving with this garbage is they are childish and have no idea what they are even protesting anymore.

If they weren't catching so much shite about it, they'd still be kneeling or sitting their million dollar asses on the bench...not giving a frick about the colors.
They knew the repercussions it would have on their pocket books.
Thank God Trump called them out on it...and when he did...they all wanted a little part of the "protest." They forgot what the protest was about...funny how they act like we turned on them.
Celebrity "entitlement" to think it's up to them to use their platform to make a stand is disgusting.
But hey -

He's a retired Navy Commander. Do you really think snowflake is the word to describe him?
I'd love to see some of these protests in Russia or China. That would be very entertaining.

Is that what we are aiming to be?
You're jerking off to the idea of some other country taking their anthem more seriously and taking some action against the protestors, while the ability to do those things without government interference is the entire frickin point of what makes this country great.
