Why would people be mad about it though? If we hire a good candidate and we end up good then it worked out. If we hire a bad candidate, we end up bad, and have to fire the staff next season then it worked out.

Why would Curry be a sub par hire vs the other names that have untested offensive leadership? Going outside the organization just for the sake going outside does not compute to being better.

He's not necessarily a bad hire, but our offense was so bad its probably best to go completely outside and revamp

I don't think people will be mad, per say. Maybe suspicious. Reluctant. Cautious even. But most won't be mad. We wanted him to take over for Pete mid-season. No reason to be mad now. However, its a bit of a show that the front office is doing if they are just trying to give the impression that they are doing a good search and just hiring Curry. Just hire him and move on.

I suspect that if they were definitely going the Curry route, they would have already made the announcement and started filling in some of those other vacancies. Now if they get rejected by Griese or Kubiak, they could be using Curry as a fallback plan.

That logic tracks.

It’s so weird that it’s still silent on OC news. It seems like no one really wants the job because you’re joining a lame duck coach who seems to have lost the team. Also, you’re connected to a QB who also seems to be a bit of a dick too.

What good young coach would hitch their wagon to the loser combo of Allen and Carr?

There are only so many oc spots. Now a guy like Waldron might pick the bears over the Saints since they will probably draft a qb at 1.

Eberflus isn't some great coach. He is on the hot seat also.
KIf the Saints would've hired Shane Waldron I believe most Saints fans would've been happy.

Do people really believe the Saints are not hiring people on purpose?

yep, its the same as what they did when they hired DA

this is what the announcement will say

"we did an extensive search, and everyone better was already hired by other teams, we decided curry was the best fit, since he was the best available at the time

While I don't think the Saints are deliberately dragging their feet like you are insinuating, I have to admit they did do this with the oc search when Allen was hired.

Interviewed 5 or 6 guys only to b3g Pete to take the job. I honestly don't think that is what they are doing this time around.

My guess is they offer the job to Jerrod johnson after the face to face tom.

Good. Then leave with him.

With regards to Carr, where is MT wrong? He's an average QB at best and has hit his ceiling.

If the Saints had real leadership at the GM and coach level then this change would have been made mid season.

But all Allen worries about is job preservation, so waiting until after the year bought him more time.

I mean he's basically a SP/Saints offense lifer, and the offense, structurally, has issues.

Every offense has issues. The problem with SP’s offense is that it’s outdated. We hardly ever used motion. All of the top offenses used motion this season. It’s time to get a fresh mind, even if it doesn’t work out.

Curry has been on Saints staff since 2016, there are no secrets in the NFL… if Curry was the next great thing he’d have been hired away already.

Even Dennis Allen felt compelled to beg Carmichael 2 seasons ago vs elevating Curry.

With all the OC openings why hasn’t Curry gotten an interview for any of these positions?

Curry could work, but the odds of someone who has been in the NFL for a decade and yet to get a chance indicates he’s not OC material.

Maybe, but when Detroit OC opens after Ben moves on means we will likely play 2nd fiddle to the better job in Detroit.
