Although the murder rate is one of the highest in the country. New Orleans doesn't even make the top twenty for violent crimes per capita.

Straw man argument as rapes and other forms of violent assault are woefully under or not even reported as citizens have given up hope in a feckless PD and lawless city.

Murders are hard to hide, though Teedy tries her best.

Saints fans should demand better from the city as the Saints are trying with protection of vehicles. Trying to find stats that “all” cities are like this (when NOLA murder rate will be #1 in US and top 10 in the world) isn’t going to help to city or save the Saints.

The only people dumb enough to suggest the Pels and Saints should be relocated/sold are just LSU fans who are mad that the city of New Orleans supports those franchises at a better level than BR does LSU. It’s quite sad.

most these people rooting for the saints to move think the saints will build a stadium in Mandeville. They’re clueless. They left the southshore and just want to turn the Northshore into everything they left. Its hilarious.

You see it with politics all the time, so why would it be different with sports teams.

Straw man argument

I don't think you know what this means.

A straw man (sometimes written as strawman) is a form of argument and an informal fallacy of having the impression of refuting an argument, whereas the real subject of the argument was not addressed or refuted, but instead replaced with a false one.

So please tell me how my suggestion of New Orleans being low in violent crime is a "straw man" when the subject is about a sports franchise leaving due violent crime.

Because this rebuttal

quote:

as rapes and other forms of violent assault are woefully under or not even reported as citizens have given up hope in a feckless PD and lawless city.

is completely subjective, and opinionated and not based on any facts whatsoever.

She doesn't. She took away home field advantage for the Saints in the playoffs during Covid-19.

Ooh ooh, can I go next and nominate the city of Los Angeles?

Can we talk about their historic gang wars and amount of celebrities shot, robbed, or murdered in the last 3 years alone?

Good then you can keep going to games and get your vehicle raided and bashed while you are sitting inside the stadium with your head in the sand.

I agree the violent crime is getting out of control, and the residents of Orleans Parish did it to themselves by barely voting and giving Latoya more power. That said I hope the Saints and Pels stay. We have some devoted fanbases represented not just in the city but the Gulf South region. If the Saints moved to Austin or London and the Pels moved to Seattle or Vegas, that would be the death knell to my interest in the leagues and you know both leagues are itching for it to happen when Gayle passes.

Los Angeles is a fricking massive city with lots of safe and affluent areas. Same with Chicago. The difference is no location is safe from random violence in New Orleans

Good and I hope it falls to pieces. New Orleans is a shithole and the years of corrupt politicians is finally catching up.

Imagine using the argument that because we don't have as many violent crimes as other cities do, New Orleans is overall safe WHEN WE ARE THE MURDER CAPITAL OF THE US. You need to wake up to reality. Homicides up 44% compared with 2021. Carjacking is up 203% from 2019 and 10% higher than 2021. Armed Robbery is up 44% from last year and these are the statistics that are even reported. It took 9 hours for an officer to show up to a vehicle that hit a BUILDING. Trying to justify this is absurd.

You should see what the sports fans in LA do to cars. I guess Lakers Dodgers and Rams are on borrowed time too.

What the frick is this take?
I'm an LSU Football season ticket holder and a loyal Saints fan. I don't attend many Saints games(purely financial), but I watch/listen to every snap. Love hearing Deuce's color commentary. He's one of the best in the NFL. And I am a HUGE Cam Jordan fan and can't wait to see him enshrined in the NFL HOF one day.

That said, I've never encountered a single LSU fan with that irrational dumb arse perspective. And plenty people are fans of one team but not the other. Head scratcher here.

Funny shite.
Snowfall on FX/Hulu did a good job showing how the LAPD cracked down on 'crime' ahead of the 84 Olympics.

Speaking of... New Orleans and South Louisiana residents definitely don't get enough credit for handling sports championships.

When the Saints won the Super Bowl The whole country was on edge fearing what would happen in the city. Speculation of chaos was common on national outlets. But it turned into a HUGE positive and pleasant surprise for New Orleans when it was pure revelry and no stupid shite like flipping cars and lighting fires. Then the message was "we shoulda known New Orleans fans would be more interested in partying than flipping cars."

And how bout LSU winning THREE College Football National Championships in the Super Dome?
Every one of those games brought in over 100k LSU fans OUTSIDE the Dome. And each time LSU won the championship, it was a just a big arse party and parade of fans to Bourbon Street

Not a single car flipped or business destroyed in New Orleans in the wake of 4 major sporting events known to trigger such behavior in major cities and many small college towns alike..

I am really proud of that.
