That’s why fans are pissed off. It’s not because refs miss a call here and there but rather the lack of consistency in the way the game is reffed. What may be a penalty to one ref is not to another. Something has got to change.

That's his job! To back up whatever inconsistent incompetence the Refs conjure up.

The NFL is unable to officiate its own games with any kind of accurate consistency. This dilutes the competitive integrity of the game, and, the NFL seems fine with that.

Said it during the saints game and I'll say it again, while it's a penalty by the book, it shouldn't have been called in either scenario. The NFL is exposing themselves for using vague/borderline rules to dictate how they want a game to go without being too obvious about it.

We lost the last three playoff games because we were outcoached and outplayed.

This phrase demonstrates the rampant subjectivity of how the NFL officiates its own game. Whenever you have a competitive sport that is officiated, not by the rules, but, rather by subjective personal interpretation of the rules that changes from game to game, you invite questions with regard to the competitive integrity of your game.

The NFL is fine with all of this. They have no intention of removing the subjectivity and inconsistency WRT how their game is officiated.

Who knows their motive? Some say that they like to manipulate the game itself via the officiating, so, the inconsistent subjectivity of their officiating creates the window for this manipulation to occur.

Is the NFL "fixing" games? Is the NFL "rigged"? That's what some fans say, and they are often roundly attacked and dismissed when they make these accusations. But ask yourself a question: Who created this environment that allows the competitive integrity of this game to be legitimately questioned? The NFL. The NFL did, and, they have no intention of changing the environment.

Why? The game is now reduced to a paradigm in which the comment applies: "it's a penalty by the rule book but that should never be called". Why is this paradigm tolerated by the NFL? Why don't they try to fix this problem?

Yes and no.

Should have been called, and maybe I'm too pessimistic, but there's a good chance that either the defense still allows a TD the next play (our DB's were playing like poop at the end), or the offense can't move the ball on the next drive.

I'm not emoting. I'm not expressing any emotional response to my observations.

I merely observe, I collate the objective data and evidence, and I derive logical conclusions therefrom.

It is reasonable to question the competitive integrity of the National Football League's product, and the NFL itself has created the conditions that justify these questions.

I don't always follow my own advice.

Your takes on NFL competitive integrity are well thought out and logical.

Al Riveron is the fixer for someone in the league office. After the NOLANOCALL you will never convince me that the refs “missed” that call.
