@MySportsUpdate: Stunner: #Redskins are waiving safety D.J. Swearinger.
He was PFF#1 safety at one point this season. Should we?

@MySportsUpdates: D.J. Swearinger has played really well for the #Redskins and some thought he should've made the Pro Bowl. After Saturday's game he criticized the coaching staff and said "I probably watch more film than the coaches." Now he's cut.

I'm assuming that someone will claim him off waivers. They will inherit his 2019 contract.

5.83 mil cap # in 2019. LINK His 2019 cap # is actually less than Kurt Coleman. We should easily be able to afford him in 2019 if we cut Coleman.

How quickly could you get a safety up to speed in a new defense? No idea how this works in nfl, but if it's like mlb, no way he reaches us

It might not pay off for us this year, but it could be great for next year.

I don't see how he couldn't be better than Coleman this year though.

Doesn't it go by overall record after a few weeks in the regular season? If so, this would be correct with us having the best record in the NFL.

Either way, we better put in a claim for him.

Most teams I would think. We used a waiver claim like a week ago to claim that TE (Swoope) from Indy. Then cut him the next day. Our waiver spot went straight to the bottom after that.

I doubt he ends up here. A lot of teams would gladly take on his contract.

31 teams are going to put a waiver claim on him. We have no shot whatsoever.

Wasn’t he released outright not waived though? Or is there a difference?
