RAS score

I know the saints have used it in the past to heavily grade their draftee’s. Wondering if it’ll continue. Relative athletic score (RAS) it accounts for your height, weight, agility, speed, explosion, etc. It’s on a scale of 0.00-10.0.

For example Demone Clark scored a 9.87 and Stingley graded out at 8.98 which are both insanely high.
Some Perfect 10’s this year
Jelani Woods- TE Virginia
Zyon McCollum- CB Sam Houston State
Jordan Davis- DT UGA
Troy Andersen- LB Montana Stare

Jordan Davis being a perfect 10 is definitely intriguing.

The LB andersen is going to crush it as well. Dude is more freakish than Luke Kuechly.

I would prefer some other team taking a chance on him other than the Saints. UGA had a team of people consistently monitoring him to make sure he kept his weight in control.
Seems like the best fit would be as a one-tech in a 3-4 scheme (although he could play in a 4-3 too). He doesn't provide much in terms of rushing the passer, but he's obviously an elite run stuffer.

I think UGA just had a really weird scheme with respect to how their DL operated in a pass rush and Davis can develop as a pass rusher in the NFL, just like Travon Walker. He also fits our preferred "power over quickness" philosophy in the pass rush.
I have said on here for weeks that the Saints are likely to surprise fans on here by picking a high-RAS DL. I was thinking more Walker or Johnson but they may be gone by 16. Wouldn't be shocked if we draft Davis.

If Walker is there for sure pull the trigger - there's a chance Walker could go #1 overall though - his stock is rising.
If I'm not mistaken the Saints finished 1st in the NFL in Run Defense DVOA last year, so I don't think we "need" a big run stuffer like Davis. Obviously if they think he can evolve into a pass rusher and they think he's a unicorn go for it - YOLO.

I've been wanting Davis & Penning for awhile. Understanding that if both are there at 16, very unlikely the other makes it to 19.
Was not aware of this, this is concerning as the team has had some issues with players like this in the past. I am sure the team did their due diligence here
Run stuffing ability is one of the things the Dline has focused on. Different positions, but this was one of the biggest knocks when the team drafted Cam.

If we can leave the first round with Davis and Penning/Cross that will be the best case scenario. Receiver is deep and the best safety fits for what our defense needs are all mid 2nd to 3rd round guys. This combo makes us elite on both lines which we all know makes the rest of the team exponentially better.

The Saints actually do not directly use RAS score. They simply have profiles on players that they must fit in order to be selected, and that often aligns with high RAS score players.

But with that athleticism it suggests there is potential to be a better pass rusher. It’s the same reason that other Georgia dude Travon Walker jumped up to the top of draft boards. He was more of a run stuffer than pass rusher, and that’s as a DE.

Yes, but the Saints had tendencies in their drafts. They liked to look at RAS over school/production, ignored many injury concerns and weren’t afraid to make trades on draft day.
I’m just curious how those trends change (if they change).

The problem with this is that you’re implying the Saints literally log into MathBomb.com and look at RAS score. They’re not.
And there are going to be instances where RAS does not align with what the Saints required profile is for a player. For example, Vonn Bell had a low RAS score but he fit the profile they require for a safety.
