For the last past 5 years the Saints failed to put a real successor behind Brees. Brees has been the epitome of health, but he is getting long in the tooth and it's time we start looking at real options for the future.

I think we should go after Teddy Bridgewater since the Jets drafted Darnold or maybe a cheap shot at RG3 if Jackson jump him on the depth chart. If Brees finish the season healthy, we will likely not be in a position to get a high draft QB.

We may regret passing on Lamar Jackson....

Who is out there that we could bring in?

I do think we need a far more reliable back up option. Nothing I've seen so far says we have an NFL ready one. Pretty scary.

RG3 is a name I'd forgotten. Wonder if he's salvageable at this point. Isn't he running third team with the Skins?

Nick Foles just won a Super Bowl on a team that ran the ball effectively, and had an effective pass rush. I think that the team is being built in a way for a QB like Foles to come in, manage the game, and rely on solid D and RBs to win.

they did a good bit of that pass/run option out of the shotgun once Foles took over late last year.

or atleast in the NFC Championship game vs. MIN

The Saints future qb last night but for the Cardinals. Rosen will make the former Sooner qb Bradford expendable.

When Brees is finished whoever comes in will have to be an experienced QB

Sign Mariotta in fee agency. Would strive in SP’s offense.

We are screwed no matter who takes over if drew Brees we're to go down

That being said, JT Barrett is the best QB currently on the roster not named Brees. He will be the back up.

whether this first part is true or not doesn't matter because he will not be the primary backup to Brees. I just pray it's not Hill unless he figures some shite out.

It's really hard to do a succession plan at QB
Rodgers was the rare exception in Green Bay
On the other hand look at the Broncos
Unless you hit in the draft which is iffy at best it will likely be another free agent like they did with Brees
Would love to see a Bridgewater in a Payton led offense if Payton doesn't bolt for the Cowboys when Garrett gets fired

Why would Payton bolt to the cowboys?

He wouldn't.

Payton is making plenty of money with full control what happens with his roster here. There's no reason to leave only to have Jerry Jones telling him what to do.

Can not have a decent backup behind Brees, he will not allow it. Just like Tom Brady
