Probably not going to be able to sign Matt Stafford

It could happen, but it’s unlikely. The Saints would have to give him something like a $17 million signing bonus and add a couple of BS years where we pay him but he’s not actually on the team.

Even if we were to pull that off, your cap hit would be around $7 million for 2021, which isn’t too bad. Not saying it’s impossible, just unlikely.

Trading Taysom saves us way more than 7 million alone.

I've really enjoyed taysom and appreciate what he's done but we need him off the books with our cap situation

Sell him on winning a Super Bowl.

So overpaid for what he does. Just get rid of taysom and draft ehlinger in the later rounds. He's not as versatile but we can run the qb power just the same

That’s actually very incorrect and not sure where you even came up with this. Stafford has about 43 million left on his 2 years. The lions will have to eat 19 million just to trade him. Stafford is about to be 33 and I’d expect it any team trades for him they would extend him and lower his cap hit significantly this year. Why on earth would any team including the Saints in bad cap situation just add voidable years to a player who would be perfect for an extension?

If the Saints are serious about stafford which i believe they could be you offer Taysom, 2021 2nd rounder, 2022 3rd rounder. Stafford snd hill don’t necessarily cancel each other out cap wise but it’s close enough that the Saints could extend stafford and end up in a better cap position.

Why would the Saints be serious about Stafford.

Sean Payton said our next franchise QB was already in the building.

Taysom Hill was the guy.
Then Jamies Winston was the guy.

Which one is our next franchise QB?

Hill or Winston?

Another + of trading for a Staffordntyoe pickup, jameis walks and we’ll likely get a compensatory pick.

We need a watson type qb- not another aging immobile qb.

We are not signing him even if we have the money. Winston is the future and he hes under contract. He wasn't brought in to be Drew's back up, he was brought in to be the starter when Drew retires.

Winston signed a 1 year deal in 2020 with the Saints. Only Hill is under contract for 2021.
