Was thinking about which teams would make sense for Teddy next season...

I think a team who would want Teddy would have a decent roster already, not a total rebuild.

Chargers if they’re done with Rivers
Titans make a lot of sense
Tampa Bay if they’re done with Winston

I think Teddy has clearly made himself a lot of $ this season and I couldn’t be happier for him.

The team we played yesterday could really use him.

Are you assuming Drew comes back in this scenario?

The Saints if Brees hangs it up. As much as people say he's not the answer he will at least be brought back if Brees decides to walk.

They are just realists, he is going to command a 5 year 100 million with 50-60 guaranteed and they don't see the Saints being able to pay that AND keep the 2017 rookie class in tact.

There is just not enough money to go around.

The Saints even if Brees doesn't hang it up. Payton has found a way to remain competitive in the future.

Brees returning would be 1 more year and then it would be back to the crap shoot of finding a replacement through the draft

Saints will find a way to keep him. There is no way Mickey Loomis will let him walk. He is the future.

you guys need to give it a rest, teddy is our backup QB for the next few years "if he wants to be"

its up to him and him alone because payton is very happy with his play so far and while its not spectacular, its definitely on par with most (non top 5) starting QBs in the league right now

I posted this in another thread but it makes more sense with this topic.

The following teams need a QB today but they all have variables:

Miami - Probably takes a QB at 1. Would they also want to commit money to Teddy?
Bengals - Still have Dalton but be sucks and is a free agent after next season. May take a QB with their top 3 pick.
Redskins - Just draftees Haskins.
Bears - They have to admit they made a mistake with Tribuski and get him off the books somehow.
Tennessee - Marriota is a free agent this year and is already benched. They will be in the market for a new QB.
Denver - Flacco sucks and he can be cut at the end of this season without a salary cap hit.
Bucs - Are they gonna move on from Winston or not resign him?

The next their of potential candidates are aging QBs that need a bridge to the future:

Saints
Patriots
Steelers
Chargers

Judging by this, the market for his services are going to be a team that has some pieces in place to be a playoff team and needs a game manager. I'd rank them in this order of likelihood.

Titans
Broncos
Bears
Bucs
Steelers

But keep in mind that the free agent QB market will have several players with resumés very similar to Teddy's:

Marriotta, Winston, Dalton

I think the 2nd most likely scenario is very similar to this year where he goes somewhere as a backup or where he will be competing for the starting job, but not somewhere he comes in and is the starter hands down.

1. Teddy is a FA so he isn't being traded.

2. That 2017 class won't matter if the Saints don't have a competent starting QB if Brees retires. It will be interesting to see what the open market thinks of Teddy and what we may be able to resign him for.

People thinking Teddy will come cheap are dreaming.

Two ways only he remains a Saint is Drew hangs it up and CSP thinks he is our QB going forward.

Teddy would be good for Chicago.

Tampa and Tennessee are definitely moving away from their QBs, though if Tannehill does well, I could see them sticking with him for now... Oakland, depending on Carr and Gruden's relationship, may be an option...

even as bad as Trubisky was yesterday, I don't think the Bears are done with him quite yet... after next season, yeah, i think they'll cut ties if he hasn't improved... same with Wentz in Philly...

the Chargers NEED to move on from Rivers, but I think they'll stick with him, more out of respect than anything, sorta how the NYG stuck with Eli a little longer than they probably should have...

Miami, if they aren't in love with Tua, could make another run at him...

Jax and Carolina may also value him more than the young guys they have right now, as well...

What if Teddy turn them down? Teddy said "13 years ago another "washed up" quarterback rejected Miami and went to the Saints to become great, lets see if history repeat itself."

And i never realized how they were so similar.

This man gets it. Let someone else overpay Teddy Two-Gloves.

Broncos have Lock they just traded up in the draft for... can't see them bringing in Teddy, to ask Lock to continue sitting for a few more years...

don't see him even entertaining the Steelers... Ben is coming back, so he'd be behind another aging legend, but on a WORSE team... doesn't make any sense, in that regard... if he wants to sit behind another QB, why wouldn't he just come back to NOLA and at least have a chance at a SB, like he's doing this year?
