Poor chiefs, they actually thought saints wanted a CB

with that pick so they moved up
It was always WR - probably would have been Tate but Tyson ended up being the pick and if healthy is probably the better pick

Veach is such a little douche
It was a nice run, but it's over for Mahomes and Reid

From everything I saw, the saints had Tyson above Tate too.

Payback for jumping ahead of us to take Mahomes.

Should sandbag them every year by pretending to want a player they like.

Age is going to be his downfall and it's coming soon.

He doesn't have the skill set for a playing career lasting into his mid to late 30's and beyond like Brady, Rodgers, Favre, and Brees had.

His scrambling and athletic abilities to make circus style plays is already falling to the wayside.

In 5 years he'll be compared to Russell Wilson for biggest career collapse.

Delane would have been a much better pick at 8.

This is quite the hot take for a QB that’s on pace to have a career that rivals Brady’s.

Veach added that Delane was their 'top guy three or four weeks ago,' but they were worried that the New Orleans Saints would target him, so they traded up to select him.

He's no where close to rivaling Brady's career.

He'll be lucky to win another Superbowl, maybe won't ever get to another.

The core of that Dynastic run is either past their primes, retired, or no longer in KC.

Last year is the new norm, not an outlier.

“After becoming the Chiefs' starting quarterback in 2018, he led the team to seven consecutive AFC Championship Game appearances and five Super Bowl appearances, winning three.”

He’s also only 30. Weird hill to die on when it’s pretty much indisputable.

I think Tyson was the Saints No. 1 choice (beyond the guys they knew were unlikely to be available at 8). I think Delane was No. 2. Obviously Delane was KC's No. 1 guy.

Once Tennessee took Tate, there was at least a possibility NYG, Cleveland and/or Washington could go WR at take Tyson. It's a position of need for all three. KC assumed (probably rightly) that if Tyson was gone the Saints were taking Delane ahead of KC. I think with the way things fell KC was worried Cleveland might take Tyson OR, more likely, KC wasn't going to be able to trade with Washington to make certain they got Delane.

In the end, Tennessee taking Tate put the Saints is the spot they had hoped for...one where they would either get their No. 1 (Tyson) or No. 2 (Delane). KC paid a price for certainty and the Saints stood pat and got the guy they wanted from the outset.

Wrong. They were worried about the Commanders taking Delane.

Again: his skill set isn't the same as Brady's and isn't conducive for a lengthy career.

He's more of a Russell Wilson style QB, not a Tom Brady/Aaron Rodgers style QB.

Cam Newton explained why mobile/athletic quarterbacks don't have very long careers compared to pocket passers: once you get to your 30's, what made you so effective starts to slip away.

You suddenly can't out maneuver and out run defenses like you used to do, and so the way you played the game and thrived is now your biggest detriment.

Because: you keep getting older, but defenses stay young.

I think even more than that, as you start to slow but still try to use your mobility, you get caught on hits you used to escape and get beat up more and pick up more injuries (see last year for example).

He’s not completely wrong. As soon as he loses those wheels to make those right sided scrambles his entire game is going to have to adapt big time. So much of his postseason success was extending drives with his legs

Wrong.

Follow – The #chiefs had Delane as a top 5 player on their board and Veach felt Mickey, who is as aggressive as he is, was eyeing the CB, so they needed to jump the Saints. CBs are hard to find in KC’s eyes and they got the top one to be CB1 day 1. Everyone knew Delane was going early.
