PFF Rookie of the Year Rankings (Week 12)
Posted on 11/29/17 at 10:59 am

quote:
1. Marshon Lattimore, CB, New Orleans Saints
PFF Grade: 92.7
PFF Elite Stat: Lattimore has allowed just 0.74 yards per coverage snap this season, the 10th-best rate among 119 qualified cornerbacks.
Lattimore continues to lead our season-long race for the PFF Rookie of the Year award with his elite overall grade but this is looking like it’s going to be a fun race down the stretch as we have seen some remarkable performances from this year’s rookie class. Lattimore ranks fourth among corners in terms of overall grade and he’s one of just 32 players in the entire league – regardless of position – to possess an elite grade (anything over 90.0). Opposing quarterbacks have just a 47.4 passer rating when throwing into Lattimore’s coverage this season, the fourth-lowest rate allowed by any corner through the first 12 weeks.
quote:
4. Alvin Kamara, RB, New Orleans Saints
PFF Grade: 87.7
PFF Elite Stat: Kamara leads all running backs with a 122.9 elusive rating.
Kamara’s overall grade has steadily risen since the Saints traded Adrian Peterson during their bye week as he’s put up an overall grade of 80.0 or better in five of seven games since Week 6. Kamara is the only running back in the league to be averaging at least 4.0 yards after contact per carry (4.03) and good things tend to happen when the Saints hand him the ball: Kamara has earned either a first down or touchdown on 39.0 percent of his carries this season, the best rate among all RBs and more than double the league average (19.2). There is a very strong chance – given current trends – that Kamara jumps into the top-3 in next weeks update of this race, will the Saints end the season with both our top offensive and defensive rookies?
quote:
6. Ryan Ramczyk, T, New Orleans Saints
PFF Grade: 81.6
PFF Elite Stat: Ramczyk ranks 20th out of all offensive tackles with a 95.9 pass blocking efficiency rating.
Ramczyk makes his debut this week in the top-10 after he comes off a practically-elite 89.9 performance in Week 12 against the Rams. His place on this list is buoyed as he now ranks eighth among all tackles for the season in terms of overall grade and he’s excelled as a run-blocker, where his 84.1 grade ranks fifth. Ramczyk has scored 70.0 or better in 8-of-11 games so far to start his career and he’s earned a positive grade on 12.6 percent of his run blocks this season, the seventh-best rate among 73 qualified offensive tackles.

Honorable Mentions:
Marlon Humphrey, CB, Baltimore Ravens
Leonard Fournette, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars
Zach Cunningham, LB, Houston Texans
Marcus Williams, S, New Orleans Saints
Takkarist McKinley, Edge, Atlanta Falcons
Derek Barnett, Edge, Philadelphia Eagles
Budda Baker, S, Arizona Cardinals
Joe Mixon, RB, Cincinnati Bengals
Rasul Douglas, CB, Philadelphia Eagles
Ahkello Witherspoon, CB, San Francisco 49ers
3 Saints in the top 6
4 Saints in the top 14
Ram is the big mover this week.
Kamara will catch Hunt soon.
Latt needs to get back on the field.

What a ridiculous rookie class

The fact that Kamara isn't ahead of Hunt now is criminal

This is the kinda class you talk about after they raise a Lombardi.
Still, think we're 2-3 pieces away.

The future is bright. This is a special draft class

When's the last time a single team has gotten both? Because we're getting both.

Yeah I posted numbers on Hunt's steady decline and it's real. He went from around 180 ypg combined and 4 tds in the first 3 weeks, to 110 ya
pg combined and 0 tds the next 4, to 60 ypg combined and 0 tds the last 3 weeks.
That was before his even worse performance on Sunday. I think he had 24 yards or some such.
And he's been THE guy. He has far more touches than Kamara, yet Kamara has down WAY more on a per touch basis.

Just an amazing, franchise-saving draft.
And Kareem Hunt still being above Kamara is absurd at this point. Hunt has been completely useless (coming from a fantasy owner) while Kamara has been straight dominating for weeks.

I miss seeing #23 on the field. We need him DESPERATELY!

Appreciate pff giving Marcus Williams some credit although be doesn't have the INTs
Takes away the deep ball
Clean tackler fixing other player mistakes
He's a rookie but he's doing all the right things. Them playing him so deep is one of the big reasons why he's not getting turnovers though

Why isn't Leonard Fournette on this list? He has over 900 total yards and 6 td this season.

Willing to bet this changes next year knowing what we know now with Shon and Crawley.
If we went and signed Butler, we would allow Marcus to roam the field like Earl Thomas.

Hunt has had more chances to increase his grade. Kamara has made a ton of ground up in the last few weeks.

They do not base their ratings on stats. They base it on every snap they play. Not just production.

Leonard is number 12 and they do not base their ratings on stats. They have 11 rookies better than him, that simple.
Guys this is PFF.

Can you imagine if we paid AJ Bouye??
A trio of Lattimore-Bouye-Crawley might be the best trio in the league. Lattimore/Bouye flipping from inside/out and Crawley on the outside

We would have won in LA.
Anything to keep Harris off the field.

With 2 games yet against the Falcons who can put up passing yards it might get close between White and Lattimore. Hopefully the Saints making the Playoffs and him being such a vital piece of the Defense gives him the nod.
With Kamara, same deal as above concerning the playoffs. Hopefully him going on an absolute tear since Peterson's trade, and Hunt the exact opposite gives him the nod.
I was watching some show earlier, and they brought this up. I want to say it was 1967, but I can't find it on google.
