Possible, giving us a better chance at a L every week. Trade AK for picks. I will await every Loss with gladness.

This may not be a popular opinion at all, but I don't want to tank for someone with 9 career TD passes
He's looked promising but if his last name wasn't manning this wouldn't even be a conversation
He could very easily go off this year and be the #1 overall pick but he could just as easily fail to reach expectations

Releasing all the vets will crush your cap to the point of never being able to recover and not being able to field a complete roster.

A first year HC that is trying to make a name for himself will not tank.

Have you every heard Loomis talk? He may be stupid but tanking is not in his vocabulary.

I dont like the Shough pick even a little but you dont pick a QB in round 2 only to tank for one immediately

Especially since he might not even enter the draft after the season.

OP's plan is to tank till 2027.

Good luck with that.

Do you actually watch college football? I feel like it’s not possible to do that and want to tank for Manning.

You are one stupid son of a bitch if you think Archie Manning is gonna let COOPER Manning play for the New Orleans Saints. He’s all but said playing for the Saints ruined his career.

Maybe not tank for "Manning" specifically, but tank to the point of getting a top 3 draft pick. There will be 3 worthy QBs that you can decide on when the next draft comes.

I'm 100% in agreement on getting rid of some of the older (more expensive) players, if possible, due to the damn extensions.

We are not winning anything next year, so you might as well stock up on as many draft picks as you can and have a bad record to draft better next year.

Cutting the older contracts is damn near impossible with the way Mickey runs the books. You can possibly do 1 or 2 now, but a lot of that will depend on how Ram's retirement affects the books*. Then they have to allocate between $12-15M for the rookie deals.

*Since he already announced, can they still wait to file the paperwork on 6/02 to keep his cap hit at $11M, or will there have to absorb the full $23M now.

Next year you already have Cam, Taysom, Demario & Mathieu "coming off the books" with a $52M hit in void years. Plus, you have to figure out how to have Carr come off as well.

It really would make sense to move on from some of these now to have some of that money hit now, but that's not the Mickey way

If the team sucks, then is it really tanking

No, you literally couldn't field a roster and wouldn't be cap compliant. It would actually cost you draft picks. Which is the complete opposite of what you want. The cap hit to get rid of all those guys would put you in a hole that would hurt more than would help. It's literally the only reason Carr got restructured and is still on this team.

Getting rid of vets has to be a slow burn.

It’s not even a guarantee Manning is in the draft. People are getting way ahead of themselves about the QB class next year.

Besides his last name, why are people so extremely high on Arch. Sure, he looked good in the times that he played. But he literally only played against UTSA, ULM, and Mississippi State. He hasn't even proven himself to be a good college quarterback yet. Yet alone a guy worth tanking for.

He currently has 2/1 odds to be the number one overall pick. Don’t be so sure. The hype will be like nothing we’ve ever seen.
