from some team's draft boards due to medical concerns

quote:

A couple of offensive tackles have reportedly been taken off of a few teams’ NFL draft boards as Thursday approaches.

According to draft analyst Charlie Campbell, Alabama’s Evan Neal and Central Michigan’s Bernhard Raimann have medical concerns that some teams just can’t move past.

WalterFootball.com has learned from team sources that some teams have medically flunked Alabama offensive tackle Evan Neal. The exact nature and concern of the medical issue was revealed to Walter Football. But, out of respect for Neal’s privacy and to maintain the teams’ discretion, we won’t disclose the details. These medical exams are subjective, however. So while Neal was flunked by some, sources from other teams shared their organizations had given him a passing grade.

All I know is that the Saints love taking guys with an injury history. So no way the medical staff has removed anyone from our list.

Teams and sometimes even a player will do it. The last week before the draft there always at one or two crazy stories or rumors that just suddenly appear. The most famous one and maybe the first one that widely became public knowledge was Dan Marino's drug issues. They were never proven and never really had any root to them as I remember it. It was all very vague but it caused him to drop like a rock. Till this day I don't know if they found out where the rumor started.

I'd remove Raimann from the first round simply on the fact that I don't want someone who's going to be 25 within the first month of the season

Ehhh, maybe if he were a rb or wr. As a tackle, no problem with it

DT at 16 or 19 is looking more and more like a possibility.

I've been hoping for OT at #16, DT at #19, & WR at #49.

Those are definitely my top 3 positions of need.

It's not fake all the time. Remember Da'Quan Bowers?

what if the concerns involve a heart defect (no pun intended)? torn ligament? brain scarring?

I’m not an Evan Neal fan. I think he is a bust. He has slow feet which is probably one of the most disastrous trait an offensive lineman can have. He gets away with it in college bc he is huge but will likely struggle against speed rushers in the nfl. I think he will eventually kick to guard in the nfl.
