No, not what he wants to grab women by…

The other P word… Potential

You look at that pretty and effortless ball he throws and think… man if this guy could pull it all together he would be dominant.

But by this point… if he’s not figuring it out… I don’t think he ever will.

He's missing the "I" word though. Intelligence.

I think it’s the other I word. Injury.
It’s clearly affecting him.
Rest up for 4-6 weeks and start Dalton in meantime. Saints are no strangers to a mid-season QB change.

Retarded people don’t have much potential, he’s peaked.

He’s got the Potential for another 30 Int season (5INTs through 3 games).

The Winston rehabilitation project probably should have ended once Payton….but at the same time the hope of rehabbing him was better than any other options on the table

Winston is the G word…

Garbage

Its time for The Red Rifle, who is a better QB than Jameis will ever be.

He’s been in the league 6-7 years. He is who he is. This is as bad as people thinking JD will change his way of playing QB after 30+ starts.

I watched the All 22 video. I'm no expert, but he just doesn't see wide open receivers sometimes. It happens maybe 3-4 times a game where he makes a really bad mistake and either throws a pick or flat out doesnt see a wide open receiver. Last week against the Panthers one of those misses was Jarvis Landry open for a TD. Happened on 2nd down right before Lutz missed the field goal. If you hit that and Kamara doesnt fumble, Saints win.

Last year he was serviceable because Payton knew how he had to play for us to have a chance and was in his face every bad throw and told him when in doubt throw it in the stands or tuck and run. Payton isn't here anymore and he hurt his knee so he can't run. Payton was also drawing up zero and one read gimmes for him and using Taysom to reduce his exposure thereby limiting his chances for disastrous INTs. That is the only way he can be a winning QB in this league. Otherwise he is left to his own devices presnap and postsnap and what you get there is blown protections, holding onto the ball far too long and panic throws twice a half into quadruple coverage. His back injury while a nice excuse has nothing to do with his inability for 7 years to set protections at the line, make pre snap reads and route adjustments, work quickly through progressions to get to the 3rd and even 4th option or take the quick and easy check down to the best pass catching back in the game when it's available for easy yards and positive plays that reduce costly sacks, INTs, bad incompletions and holding calls on an OL holding on for dear life while he stands back there for 2 minutes while being blitzed by 7 and rolling into the pressure instead of moving away from it.

But that was the issue

All the people irrationally hating on Jameis don't realize we didn't really have any/many better options.

Based on what?

Dalton has been really bad for a few years now. REALLY bad.

No, the fact is if rolling with Jameis was, as you say, only the best option; you are obviously not a contender in that frame of mind. If that's the case why trade your next year's first round pick to move up and get a receiver this year? Now it looks like it is a top 10 pick that we traded away to get a wide receiver.

The product on the field does not even sniff a playoff team, yet they went into this season with the "win now" approach that made sense when you still had Drew Brees. This whole situation starting last year only delays the inevitable rebuild necessary to get another chance at the whole enchilada.

To me this shows an obvious disconnect from reality that starts with the front office and ends with the catastrophe on the field. So yes, continue to call the critics "irrational."

Even when Dalton was at his absolute best, he couldn’t even win a playoff game in 4 tries with teams way better than this one

Also that was almost a decade ago. Dudes old. He’s not starter material.

The C word.
Clueless. That would be you JW had better grades than you. Football aptitude may be what you are looking for.

I think the plan was to surround Jameis with weapons to get the O back to having a pulse and let the D do the heavy lifting

Two issues with that plan:
1) the coaching drop off on the offensive end has been very steep. Really team preparation across the board
2) the OL drop off has been extremely detrimental, sustained drives just have not happened at all. The scoring drives have mostly been the result of a large chunk play or two

Do you think I supported our aggressive draft strategies this year?

This variable was a major component of why I did not.

Yes. I was saving that for the "Jameis has never won a playoff game" crowd.

Literal peak Dalton with AJ Green and a solid D could never win a playoff game
