I can't believe some of you would actually consider trading CSP.

Take a look around the league these last 10 years. My god, some of y'all are total idiots.

People are only saying this under the hypo that he is trying to manufacture an exit. Nobody is giving him up just because.

maybe this wasn't the best thread to call them out but...

there is talk about it every week on here during the season. especially after a loss. I'm not referring to hypotheticals. I'm talking about stupid fans not knowing how good they have.

2nd best coach in the league.

Well it's not like the giants would trade us their #5 and #7 plus for him anyway, so it's all pretend

That's what people fail to see. He has all the control in New Orleans, something which is hard to find in the NFL.

He has total control of football operations and Loomis is the defacto owner when it comes to Saints' decision making. Payton leaving for the dumpster fire that is NYG is laughable, no way will he give up the control he has now to coach Daniel Jones.

Name Dennis Allen HC

This would be a disaster. You don't hire a DC as a HC if offense is supposed to be your strong suit. Pete Carmichael is not Payton.

Exactly

Dude has been here 15 years. He’s almost 60, Brees is gone. I’m thinking of a scenario where he wants to try something else, and works with the saints to facilitate something that benefits all parties.

Payton has never really talked about what he wants his legacy to be. Does he want to coach here for 20 years? Maybe. Could you see him doing something else in the immediate future? Absolutely

If he wants to go the announcing route,
Guys like Romo are inking for 10 years $180 mil to be in the booth.

Offense isn't our strong suit anymore, those days are gone with Brees. Until they find the next Brees this year will be the norm

It's funny how they think he would leave a comfortable place with several good pieces in place and only needing a QB and a #2 WR. For a complete rebuild situation.

That's what we see on the surface. There's always other factors behind the scenes. Not saying there's any legs to this whatsoever, but sometimes when you've been somewhere a long time, you just want a change.

Two first round picks, even top 10, aren't worth shite compared to Payton.

Those could just as easily be busts.

A great HC, which Payton, is easily more impactful than two great first rounders.

Outside of a franchise QB, I wouldn't trade a top coach for any pick.

Payton has built the culture that the saints have. It took him a while to build it to where it is now. There is no chance Payton will leave the saints as long as they continue to keep him as one of the highest paid coaches. He has absolutely nothing to gain by going to another team. He literally has everything a coach could want here.

We have a very small portion of this fanbase that would test out at mental retardation. Those are the idiots that think we could fire Payton and upgrade. I would put zero stock in those morons.

Nah man. They are doing the agent’s work. Sean is about to get a raise and extension. This happens every few years.

that’s a bit credulous mate. Times change, people change, priorities change. No one thinks their guy is leaving until he’s gone

Let’s see

He can get out of a sinking city
He can get into a major market
He can become the highest paid coach in the league
He can gain full control of an organization as GM/HC
He can turn another organization around

Don’t underestimate the ego, pride, and greed of these guys

The New Orleans Saints and head coach Sean Payton have agreed to terms on a five-year contract extension to keep him in town through the 2026 season, as first reported by Jay Glazer of FOX Sports. Payton previously inked a five-year extension in March 2016, which was set to expire in 2021.

I had to check, couldn’t find anything with Glazer saying when the deal ran up. He just tweeted it was a 5 year extension. Appears john sigler added the part about 2026

Do you think the extension replaced the years left on his deal in 2019?

So you're saying, we go without WRs again next year as well as a carousel on the OLine? Interesting.

He can get out of a sinking city

Or he can help it. Seems he's said this exact thing before on tape.

He can get into a major market

What does this even mean if you have one of the top Orgs in the nfl and your highly paid.

He can become the highest paid coach in the league

He can do that here if he wants it.

He can gain full control of an organization as GM/HC

If he wanted that he would already have it brah.

He can turn another organization around

Boy much more fun than being a part of a still top org you helped birth

Counterpoint

1. He's been in the city for a decade and a half. If he was concerned about it all that much he would have left it by now

2. Getting into a major market for the sake of being in a major market aint everyones MO. The media becomes even more of a head ache and they question every move you make 24/7. He already gets annoyed with the NO media at times.

3. He can be the highest paid here.

4. He is basically in control now.

5. Why would you want to start over at 60. Moving sucks. Not everyone wants to do it and it doesnt get better with age.

Also, going to place where you may not get along with a GM or owner is kind of a big thing. Places like NY and Chicago have dictator like owners. Its their way or the highway
