Sean Payton told @peter_king that he wants to name a starter before next week’s game against Arizona. That means tomorrow’s game against Jacksonville will be a huge opportunity for both quarterbacks to make their case.

Maybe it's just me, but I would have preferred Payton to give that scoop to Underhill first and bypass Peter King outright.

I honestly have no idea who will be the starter.

At this point all we can rule out is that Drew isnt starting week 1.

Underhill is flat out the best saints reporter in recent years.

Of course he is sure. Everyone knows it’s Ian Book.

He's about to surprise the NFL world and start Siemian. He's getting the Drew treatment and not playing in the preseason

Even better. The future is bright. All kidding aside, I sure hope that whoever they pick turns out to be their best move since signing Brees so long ago.

I think it is going to be Taysom. Jameis has done nothing to pull away, we know Payton loves Taysom, and this gives him a chance to show how much smarter he is then everyone else if it works.

Because Taysom can do so many other things in the offense, I've always though Taysom had to separate himself from Winston to earn the job.

Regardless of who it is, I just hope Payton's ego doesn't get in the way if they end up not being "the guy". I think we can all understand a few bad years as long as the team is showing signs of trying to find the right person instead of plugging in a guy and hoping for the best.

Sean Payton can be an arrogant AA.He had Bryan alle Walsh
taken off the saints beat years ago for asking tough
questions. He is giving info to national guys to keep the
local guys in check.

I was pretty certain it would be Jameis going into preseason but now I'm not so certain. I really think Payton wants Jameis to "win" the job and that stage is tonight.

A logical person would see Taysom as way more valuable to this team in the same role he played last year. But who knows. I did pick up Taysom in fantasy football, because if he does start, he will be a beast due to his running.

Not that I want this, but I feel It’ll be taysom just because Sean would go the opposite way of what the media is saying on purpose. Kinda like during the season last year we all assumed Jameis.

It's going to be Taysom. Without MT, and one of the worst receiving corps in the league outside of him, the QB is going to need to make plays with his legs. We'll see Jameis later on this year.

There would at least be hope he can progress throughout the year and his career.

The other two are as good as they are going to get. If Winston can't seperate from Hill and Book as a clear cut starting QB then he should hang it up and become a stand up comedian with his goofy arse
