Dont get me wrong Baton Rouge loves the Super Bowl Champion Saints....they just dont care when the Saints go 8-8 or 3-13

35000 in tiger stadium after katrina... at that time people were pissed with benson bc he wanted to move the team to san antonio. didn't one guy yell stuff at benson right after the game bc of it?

Some of you guys are way too sensitive re who is/isn't a "true" Saints fan. Time to chill on that shite.........

BR put 35000 in tiger stadium to watch the saints.. this city sucks so much
Just because LSU is understandably Baton Rouge's first priority doesn't mean that the people of BR don't care about the Saints. Next time the Saints are in the middle of a nightmare season and they fill up the Dome while NO is also selling out Tulane games, let me know. Did it ever occur to you that BR support of the Saints was affected at all by the fact that LSU games average 92,000 people? Tulane by comparison averaged 22,000 in 2004. There are only so many football entertainment dollars to go around, that doesn't mean the Saints aren't appreciated.

yeah a few people got in trouble for yelling stuff and throwing stuff at him while he was walkin out of TS..
and to the guy right on top its just aggravating that the same people who made fun of me and prob other people for being saints fans now love the saints. and they will prob make fun again if they go back to 3-13 one year.

Because you're dead wrong. It's hilarious because you guys think the entire city of New Orleans stuck by the Saints even through the bad years. There's just as many bandwagon fans there than there are in Baton Rouge.

Guess what... the number of Saints jerseys being worn in N.O. went up this year as well.

Man, some of you Saints fans are soooo insecure.
Everybody loves a winner. WTF is wrong with that ?
I'm a BR guy.
I went to my first Saints game in 1974.
I followed them but didn't adopt them as "My" team until 1984/85 or so.
I've forgotten more than many "diehards" know about the Saints.
I have had a love/hate relationship with them ever since. I can't stand Benson. I have laughed/banged my head against a wall at the saints as they have found new and creative ways to flounder.
I used to wake up at 4am to watch them when I lived in Japan.
I have driven to Lafayette a couple dozen times to evade the "blackout" zone.
My first saints jersey was a Tommy Myers jersey.
After LSU football, Avalanche hockey, LSU baseball and LSU basketball the Saints have my undying attention.
Really right NOW, they are behind only LSU football probably.
Precisely because they are SO excellent.
I love them. But if they lose, I'm happy fifteen minutes later. I realize I am not a life and death fan like I am for LSU football.
So I can't wear a freaking t-shirt ?
If it makes some of you insecure Saints fans feel better, I'll toss my saints gear for ya...
So silly to think fandom has geographic boundaries.

I really don't understand why Saints fans from New Orleans have so much animosity towards fans from other areas of the state. I understand that you were probably born a fan of the Saints, just like people in Baton Rouge are born LSU fans, etc. I also understand that fact makes you a bit protective. You feel like you stood by the team when the rest of the state turned its back on them, so you have more of a right to enjoy the good times than they do.
I understand. I really do.
What you need to understand is that there are many people outside of Nola that have always loved the Saints. Furthermore, you need to understand that the recent converts are good for the team. The short term gain is obvious, but look a bit further into the future. Think of how many kids are growing up in households of newly christened Saints fans. Think of how many more life-long Saints fans there will be in the coming generation than there were in this one.
If you spent less time drawing your lines in the sand and more time just enjoying the good times, you'd see that everything that has happened, even the bandwagoners, are good for your team.

There's more Saints fans in California than Colts fans by a long shot, even before they won the Superbowl!

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!! I came up here after katrina and have seen nothing but lsu $hit 24/7. Damn bandwagoners!!!!

I went to LSU from '97-'00 and worked in BR for three years after I graduated, and I can speak from experience that people from Baton Rouge couldn't give two shits about the Saints back then. The Saints were always just a side-note sports story on the local BR news stations.
There was sort of a Saints vs LSU type of rivalry that went along with the Baton Rouge vs New Orleans rivalry. I really don't care either way, but the people saying BR always supported the Saints is complete BS.
It is funny that the Saints are helping LSU fans get through the Saban vs Miles years now

I only noticed it directed toward areas like Shreveport and Baton Rouge to a certain extent. Most Saints fans know the fanbase has always extended into Mississippi, nearly all of LA, Mobile, Pensacola, etc.
BTW, I'm not from New Orleans, and I know BR as a whole was never really into supporting the Saints until recently.

That's pretty weird considering I grew up in Baton Rouge and everyone I knew was a Saints fan

Yeah, I'm sure you and all of your friends stayed glued to the television through the 4-12 years.
I'm up in Baton Rouge 3-4 days a week and the bandwagon stuff is kind of funny. I won't knock it because as soon as the Saints lose 10 games again BR Saints fans will disappear.

This is really some stupid shite. My dad and I used to watch every time the Saints came on. Start to finish. Win or lose. And it was mostly lose.
For people to say that Baton Rouge as a whole is a bandwagon town really just shows their ignorance. Get over yourself.
