Benson’s solution to everything was move the team to San Antonio.
Gayle is better than this board gives her credit for, look at the rebuild she did with the pelicans since she took over.

Every board on this site freely admits NOLA is a shitehole, but when you come to Saints Talk the NOLA apologists and deniers come out it spades. I’ll still pull for the Saints if they bail, it’s ok to live the team and hate the city. If you care for them let them go.

Nah, loyalty is a two-way street. When they leave Louisiana I will have a soft spot for them but my loyalties will probably switch to a player rather than a team.

Benson was a cheap scape who hired accountants as GMs to make money. I can’t count the great players we let walk because we didn’t want to pay them. I also can’t count the times he poor mouthed the state to give him money or he would leave the state…but also refused to show any proof that he was actually losing or not making money.

The problem has been punitive against the Saints. Maintain the lie that players paid to injure themselves for concussion lawsuit reasons.
Age and health made Mr B virtually powerless. Mrs B is compromised by the Catholic priest scandal.
She takes on the NFL, Roger makes her scandal resurface. Kraft can have happy endings. The Rooney's make player and coaching issues disappear. The Mara's pull the strings too.
She is powerless. The demise of the Saints was orchestrated starting with the character assassination of Brees by the proxy Malcolm Jenkins. The threat to the Brees' children made him bend the knee making him hated by the Woke and loyal fan base.
The departure of CSP was the fait accompli. The small market Saints are now full circle the hated bountygate losers. All is as intended.

Old Man Benson met Gayle and she quickly let him motorboat her milky jugs and parlayed that into a ring. Gayle picked a fight with Rita and got the old man to change his will and she got the Saints. You can’t expect this reality to lead to a functional winning franchise.

It does make sense, we’re lucky the league gifted us a sympathy Super Bowl after Katrina even if it’s a little tarnished with the bounty approach Gregg Williams used.
