Why would we continuously waste high draft picks on project DE’s that never contribute?

The front office is horrible and has been for years.

Y’all were always fooling yourselves if you thought that

this. People were told this over and over and the only response was basically "I just wouldn't trade him out of spite"

We could have gotten more. SP wanted to go to Denver and Loomis caved like a bitch. He could have easily called SP's bluff and waited a year. No, he took a shite deal, and now will have all the local guy's force-feeding us how it is "actually a good deal" and all the simplteons will eat that shite up.

Loomis panicked thinking Denver was off the table, and he wouldn't have a first-round pick this year to take an injury-prone project DE from SE Texas St. University.

This is the problem

Hold your ground man.

The 1st and 2nd would've been fine.

There was no possible way that 3rd round pick would blow the deal.
Mickey freaken Mouse could have made a better deal. This guy is a clown and doesn't seem to hold us fans in high regard.

It's not necessarily the value that upsets me. It's that the leadership is weak.

That’s not how most trades work in the nfl

Good chance we traded a high 3rd rounder for a low 2nd round pick, meaning we traded Sean for the 29th pick in the draft.
The Broncos are desperate for a coach, should of held out.

Sure, but it's not everyday you have the rights to a coach of Payton's caliber. And that's fine if people assume we overestimated his worth. I just don't believe the Saints needed to include a pick to get it done. Especially after the Broncos lost out on Ryans and Wilson begged them to get Payton.

This is stupid. Russell Wilson might just be bad now.

Realistically, the Saints were really not in that strong of a position. If they didn’t trade Payton this off-season, they were geting nothing for him. Next year, with only one year left on his deal, Payton’s value would tank. Also, there was never going to be a bidding war since Payton would only agree to go to the team he chose. I would have loved for the Saints to get more but this was probably close to the best they could get. I do hate giving up the 3rd next year, that shouldn’t have been necessary.

And this is coming from someone who hates Mickey Loomis and wants him fired.

We got a 1st and swapped a 3rd for a 2nd for a guy that was never going to coach here. Why are yall upset? Jesus Christ.

Because a ton of posters basically said it was the Gruden deal or bust and truly bought into it.

Some legit were saying we were going to get 3 overall and THEN two second rounders.
