Yeah, people on the street are denser.

Canal Street alone had over 150k. It was ludicrous.

Okay. What number do you think was there?

Did you hear how many people on here complained of traffic they have never seen before?

I have never missed a Superkrewe parade since Ive lived here and I have never seen anything like this.

Traffic was as bad as Katrina, worse I would say, because most people took two hours to get from kenner to NOLA, which is a ten minute drive.

This is pointless, I am arguing with an idiot who thinks he is a know-it-all.

How many games did you go to this year?
Did you go to any home games in 2005?
How dare you call anyone a bandwagoner when you sat on your arse.

ALL the real fans who could make it where there last night.

People came from Texas and Tennessee to that parade, not to mention Mississippi and Alabama.
If not 800k, at least 650k.

Super Bowl parade organizer Barry Kern has estimated 800,000 people were in attendance at the Saints' rolling party, the largest figure for any New Orleans parade. Kern will provide a final number Wednesday after looking at aerial footage from helicopters flying over the route.

The Kern family are behind 90% of the parades in New Orleans and build floats for parades around the world. He has no reason at all to exagerate the numbers.

This is just crazy.

I was there and have been going to Mardi Gras parades for 27 years, thats the most amount of people I have ever seen at a parade. The traffic was beyond ridiculous.

I watched it by St Peters and poydras, there were just cars parked in the middle of the street for blocks.

Math....

The parade route was approximately 3.5 miles long according to nola.com. ... lets just be generous and call that 4 miles.

Now we need to calculate approximate number of people per mile. I'm making an assumption here that "on average" each person takes about 18 inches of space along the route. Then we just need an "average" depth of folks along street, which will be proportional to the total number at parade.

So if we say 1M were present, that would be 250k per mile. At 18 inches "pitch" per person per row, each row of depth on sidewalk is about 7000 folks per mile, counting both sides of the street. To get to 250k per mile would require an average of 35+ people on both sides for the entire route.

This seems quite a bit higher "on average" than the reports we are seeing here. I am seeing lots of reports of 10-15 deep in some areas, maybe 40+ deep at the highest locations.

If we assume an average of 25 deep along whole route you would get 7000 * 25 * 4 = 700k people

Since you like math so much.......

and it was compacted into what, 1/10th the length of a normal parade route?

You're killing me
THE PARADE WAS 3.5 MILES LONG A NORMAL "UPTOWN" ROUTE PARADE IS 3.9 MILES!!!!

So much for your "math"

your posts? You brought up math but never showed any. Someone gives you a formula and you just call it dumb. Unreal.

No you just proved it went over your head.

An average man is 18 inches wide, so if you take into account the depth of the crowd and the length of the parade you can put it into a math equation like the one I used.

You mentioned math first, then you assume a parade is 40 miles long.

You really don't know shite, but I am enjoying watching you get owned.

....and you don't even know it.

Obviously you are all alone here.

if only someone could come up with a simple explanation of what was going on!

applying your retarded "equation" to the map above is just plain stupid.

even if people were moving to catch it multiple times there were at least 700k people out there judging by the amount of cars and the amount of time people were in line for the Algiers ferry.

If you're so smart, why don't you provide a fricking estimate using math?

OOOOOh so now you are saying that people went from one area to another.

But you were not at the parade.

You never met the people who were five rows back who got there at noon to catch the parade.

Dipshit.

Actually many people even left before the last float got to us.

It was cold, could you imagine the number had it not been cold and on a weekday?

Look you were not there, you didn't see cars parked from Gert town to the upper ninth ward. Cars "abondoned" on canal street, and a line of cars over a mile long to get on a ferry.

Again expalin your "math", tell us where you came to your conclusions.
