That look back could be taken two ways. The way you said, OR he was lookin back to see if there was a flag was there, and when there was he immediately knew "oh shite, theres a fine for me".
It was a dirty shot, an ATTEMPTED dirty shot, at one of our best players. He should be fined. He had plenty of time before the hit to look back for half a second to see if any of his receivers were chasing.

Sanchez is from USC-what else do you expect

I don't think it was a dirty play or cheap shot. I just think Sanchez was not thinking about what he was doing and made a bonehead play. He's not a dirty player- never has been in the least. He's a fierce competitor (I think most would agree) and had no idea what to do. ALthough not a dirty play, still deserves a fine, IMO.
He also saw that Vilma was going to hit him and instead of going heads up and losing the battle, looks like he threw himself low (too low, IMO). Bonehead play- yes. Intentional/dirty- No, IMO.
Until he read or reads it in the press, or heard ot from someone, I bet he has no idea that some saw it as dirty play.

"for some reason" is that he's a QB who is not trained to block. illegal? yes. cheap shot? not quite.
Why was he blocking when the other team was running down field with the football?
Football 101 - You block if one of your teammates is running with the football. If your opponent is running with the football you tackle the ball carrier.

To be fair how often does a QB particularly one with as few starts as Sanchez get the opportunity to make a dirty play?
I don't know what his motives are but he's had two questionable plays in the preseason and first four games of the season, so if history is the guide, he does seem to be a bit of a prick when it comes to the careers of other players.

perhaps he was trying to engage a blocker so a back or a reciever could catch sharper down the field with one less person in his convoy...
none the less, Vilma should have ripped his helmet off Turley style and launched it into the 600 level.

or really has no idea what he is doing, much less how to do whatever he is trying to do in such situations.

Sanchez has been playing football since Pee-Wee days. This wasn't his first rodeo.
It was a cheap shot. I hope he gets a HUGE fine.

I saw it as Sanchez had two options...
a) Get knocked the frick out by Vilma
b) Go down before he gets knocked the frick out and might as well fall at his legs
3) he could have stopped giving chase.

Not as much of a competitor as he is. That is what always has givim him clout with his temates. He's not afraid to hit or take a hit. But he better learn to know when to fold 'em, because he is all pro material. And yes, he should have folded then then--at least when Vilma moved at him.

That's your opinion.
Was there some kind of bubble above his head enlightening you on what he was thinking, or even if he was thinking.

I will personally say that it was definitly a cheap shot, but it wasnt as bad as it could have been. He did throw a block on a play where he should have been trying to tackle the ball carrier instead of blocking someone out of the play, but Sanchez did hit vilma like a little pussy. If sanchez would have hit him as hard as he could...there would have been a BIGGER problem.

Really? A few other here did not see it as such.

should be penalized and fined, but the dude isn't being a dirty player
If you go back and look at it you will see the reason he did it. He thought there was someone behind him that might be able to make a tackle on Sharper if he took out the blocker. As soon as he made the hit he looked back to see if someone was there to do it. As soon as he saw he was the only player there he shook his head as to say "Damn I did all that for nothing" At least that's how I saw it.

Are you implying that you knew what was going on in Sanchez's head? There are many possibilities: "I gotta get this guy some how, maybe I can roll the blocker into him". "I gotta get this guy out in case there is someone behind me to make a tackle". "I don't know what the hell to do, but I am going for him [Sharper]". "Vilma is abot to hit me, what do I do?". "Hmm, I am a rookie, let me take a cheap shot and roll into this guys knees to injure him on purpose". WHo really knows? But it is unlikely he did it as a cheap and dirty shot. Bonehead play on his part nonetheless. He's a fierce competitor, not a cheap shot artist, IMO.
