It’s not real.

Unless they show a legit db meter on the field (they’ve done in the past) it’s contrived to motivate fans to yell.

You think Mercedes Benz sponsors it to show an unimpressive level of noise?

What it won't do is get to 125 then drop to 108 then go back to 125 in the span of 3-4 seconds.
That is my concern. That made it seem fake whereas in ever other game it was actually legit where you could hear the sound levels rise and see it register on the screen

The crowd noise was legit af today. The meter just helps push us to be louder.

My ears are ringing substantially. The ears says it was louder than the 106 peak I saw all year...but I dont know if it was 20db louder and then up to the 128db we saw.

Perhaps it has been discussed, I'm just getting home and it was on my mind...

I think someone was juicing the noise meter in the dome tonight. Prior to this game, the loudest I've seen that thing was 109-110ish decibels. On at least a dozen occasions tonight, you'd have the meter in the 106-109 range then BOOM, jumped up to 125 decibels without any noticeable sound level change, and would drop back down to the 106-109 range. Loudest I saw it all night was 128dBa.

Just a random observation. Once things get unrealistic like that, it takes away its purpose.

After that game, this is what is most important to you? Wow!

I seem to remember (possibly a decade or so ago) an NFL Office mandate not allowing clubs to accurately display noice level readings in real time at stadiums.

I’m a Season Ticket holder since ‘06 and it was as loud today to me as any time in the past 13 years.

Lulz on the reference of the 283Falcons screwing it up.

ETA: After poking around a bit, there’s an article from 2006 in the Seattle Times (Link) that reference a league prohibition on the use of Noise Meters by the “Home Club”.

From the article, allegedly the NFL rule:

(1) Club-Controlled Sound: The home club does not have the prerogative to decide if such sound hampers signal calling. While spontaneous crowd noises may be beyond immediate control, noise of any kind (music, horns, gongs, drums, etc.) that is under club control must cease when the play clock (40 or 25 second) is running and the visiting team is in possession of the ball. Flagrant attempts by cheerleaders, mascots or the public-address system to encourage crowd noise for the purpose of disrupting the visiting team’s offense while the play clock is running is prohibited. The use of noise meters or such messages as “Noise!,” “Let’s hear it!,” “Raise the Roof,” “Let’s go Crazy,” “Pump it up,” “12th Man” are prohibited at any time during the game.

I really don’t care about the meter because it’s an obvious prop. Right before a 3rd down in the first half before anyone started screaming, they posted it on the board and it was already at 120.
I would’ve guessed it might have actually gotten over 120 during the Who Dat chant last night though. That was very loud

Well that is a lie considering this happens on literally every drive during a Saints home game by both the announcer and the score board

It was the loudest I can remember hearing the Dome in a very long time.

As loud at times as the NFCCG in 09.
