No-trade clauses need to go

Current labor agreement expires in 2030. When they negotiate the next agreement, the league needs to get rid of this no-trade nonsense. Either you play ball or the team can ship you out of town on their terms. This no trade shite is detrimental to the integrity of the league

A no trade clause and we're probably not even in the conversation. Texans would just ship him to the highest bidder.

Sure, let's get rid of the no trade clause, but in return teams need to guarantee the full contract similar to other leagues.
Player has to sign a binding contract to play with a team. During that time, they cannot seek other employment with another team unless they get their employer's permission. If their employer decides they no longer want their services, depending on where they are in the contract, they get to just walk with no repercussions. The no trade clause is the little bit of leverage a player has.
If Atl decides to saw F it and cut Ryan, Atl has to deal with the $40m cap hit, but Ryan gets nothing (he already rec'd that money) in return for Atl not honoring the contract they negotiated in good faith

GM’s dont have to include that in a players contract. Houston chose to do that. Now they must suffer the consequences.

This could be the dumbest take I’ve seen in a while. So because he gets every bit of guaranteed money in the contract that he agreed to, he somehow gets nothing?

You are a buggie pusher at Walmart. You are out in the weather atleast 6 hours a day. Just like an NFL player you have your lifestyle setup by what you make. You work in Kansas city. Tomorrow morning your boss calls you in and says " well we found another guy that's younger and hopefully will give us more value for our dollar, so we are sending you to Anchorage Alaska for an Eskimo pie or to the pits of hell for some cheetos, sit by your phone and we will let you know "

No one is forcing teams to sign players with a no trade clause. If you don't like the request from the player, then don't sign the player. It provides protection for the player so they don't end up playing for the Jets or Browns.

Yea, you missed the point. Part of that contract was for Ryan to get paid $23.5M in 2022 & $27.5M in 2023. Technically, Atl could cut him and walk away from having to pay any of that by just cutting him and he gets nothing. Usually, when 1 party tries to end a contract early, there are "penalties" involved.

The guaranteed money is the only number that matters in an NFL contract. It’s always been that way.
