SOURCE: #Saints D-line coach Ryan Nielsen is remaining with New Orleans. He was a target for LSU’s defensive coordinator job.

ETA:

This is a big win for the Saints. Nielsen has arguably become as valuable as any assistant on New Orleans' staff because of the way that defensive line has developed over the past four years under his watch.

Mike Triplett @MikeTriplett
Ryan Nielsen will get a new 3-year contract and the added title of assistant head coach with the Saints, per source.

Dan Campbell had the title of asst. head coach before leaving for the Lions. So Nielsen will take on some of the leadership duties associated with that role.

Not his decision, Saints wouldn't let him out of the contract

You’re still crying like a bitch all over the board in defense of this, I see

OP, Brody Miller has reported that this was a Saints decision. They blocked him from leaving.

Saints will keep having mediocre playoff results. LSU gets screwed. Everyone loses.

Because they enforced a clause in the contract that both sides agreed to? Nice

Im starting to think this is the attitude of the Saints organization.

Think about all of the shite theyve done in just the last year.

Contracts are renegotiated all of the time. You’re ignoring that to defend an organization that has now publicly declared that we will not let our coaches move on to higher paying jobs to help advance their own career.

LSU fan or not, this is a bad look and sets a horrible precedent.

Are the Saints about to pay a DL coach 1 mill plus?

Or are they going to just have a disgruntled employee that apparently they valued

Are you kidding me? We literally let joe Brady leave for a promotion to this very university 2 years ago. Fontenot just got the Atlanta job today. Dan Campbell is going from TE coach to HC today.
Seriously the dumbest thing ever posted on this board

With the Saints playing hardball, I HAVE to think he's about to move up the ladder on the staff.

And? That doesn’t change that they have now shown they will prevent a coach from making more money and advancing their own careers if they think doing so is a benefit to the organization.
