PFT

As one of the LSU fans on this board who've had to watch this kid for the last few years, if he can catch a ball I'd love to have him on the Saints as a late round flyer. Heck of a runner and competitor. Hopefully he catches better than he throws.

I cant imagine Nick Fitzgerald having more upside than Dan Arnold as a TE prospect to be honest. Dan Arnold just needs to add some more pounds and a little more seasoning and he could be a solid depth TE option.

And surer hands. Being a former WR, I was surprised at how many drops he had. Maybe it is just a concentration thing and he will improve.

You know that has nothing to do with whether we draft a late-round TE, right?

I remember Buu Williams struggled for a while when he converted over to TE from WR before finally catching on. Not saying it will be the same exact results but there is a precedent of dropsies going away with additional reps and confidence.

Good to know I’m not the only one who isn’t down on Dan Arnold. Given his situation I felt he over performed. Not sure what his ceiling is, but I expect him to be better next year.

Maybe so, but you would expect a WR spends a lot of time catching the ball and working on that part of his game as well. That would seem to be the "easier" part of the transition.

in 2017 he was put on IR
in 2018 he began his TE transition basically as a NFL rookie

so he was out of football for a year, transitioning to a new position, and before that he was playing football for Wisconsin-Platteville

I would have some major drops too if I was used to playing against Division 3 took a year off and now had NFL safeties and linebackers head hunting me. I think adding the weight will give him a lot more confidence going forward.

All in all for a 220 lb undrafted rookie in a new position he did ok

Nope. Undrafted then IR'rd for 2017. The guy was converted from WR to TE by CSP after Fleener flunked out. He caught his first pass almost halfway through the 2018-19 season. So anyone passing judgement is a bit early to me.

He was 6'6" 225lbs last year and I hope he can gain the weight before camp. If he can push 240 to 250 and learn some blocking he may stick for awhile.

I'm not down on him but man that TD drop in the NFCCG was.... just damn (and yes I know it wasn't an easy catch)

He had at least one pretty high profile drop earlier in the season too... can't remember. Maybe against the Falcons? Maybe it was ruled a fumble that we recovered and so it wound up being a drop that helped us?

Arnold will be cut or PS guy when it’s all said and done I reckon

He showed no real promise and the two or three big opportunities he had resulted in drops.

I think he could stick around as the 3rd tight end if he puts on enough weight.

They obviously like him and I think he is a decent number 3 tight end

Fitz is a really good football player. I see him getting drafted and sticking as a multi athlete.

He’d be a better wildcat QB than Taysom

Nope. We need to look high and low in the late rounds for quality depth on the OL imo.

He can’t block and he can’t catch

We win this game if he catches this ball. He cries in locker room post game

You already signed cook and hill, if you draft a TE he’s going to PS or cut

You really think so? Is Nick more accurate? No way he is tougher, faster or a better blocker than Taysom.

He’s not faster but he’s a much better runner and just as shitty of a passer
