There’s just one week left in the 2025 NFL regular season, and a rookie quarterback is making a push to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year.

While Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan is still the favorite, New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough has gone from +2500 after Week 15 to +350 after Week 16 to now +155 after winning again in Week 17.

Can he win this award?

There are four true contenders in this market based on the latest odds, and there may be some value in betting on a couple of them ahead of the final week of the regular season.

Here’s a look at the odds and each player’s case after playing in Week 17.

Tetairoa McMillan: -105
Tyler Shough: +155
TreVeyon Henderson: +650
Jaxson Dart: +1000
Emeka Egbuka: +1000
Ashton Jeanty: +8000
RJ Harvey: +10000
Harold Fannin Jr.: +15000
Cam Ward: +20000
Tyler Warren: +25000

One game doesn't decide who wins a "season long" NFL award

If Carolina wins the NFL South, he'll be one of main reasons for that and get the votes to win it.

Shough will need to have another big game and hope Carolina doesn't win.

The TE for Cleveland is going to win it. He can get 80 catches with one game remaining.

Oh wow, did not realize it was a "season long" award. In that case, Tet has EIGHT games with less than 50 receiving yards.

And nobody will be impressed if the Panthers slouch their way to an NFC South championship because the Bucs collapsed.

You’re right, Shuck only had half a season to make his case. He’s way more deserving than McMillan who isn’t winning his team games

If Shuck doesn't win it, I will consider it rigged & a conspiracy against the Saints

One of the reasons i was hoping JSN would continue his first half pace. I want to see a WR win MVP once in my lifetime.

We've had defensive players and a kicker win mvp but never a wr.

Aren’t you asking the Saints to sign Mac Jones?

That's true. But right or wrong, recency bias plays a part which means late season games matter more. In the last 5 games McMillan has had only one game where he had more than 2 catches and 50+ yards. Shough's last 4 are wins where he has improved his numbers in each game. He'll also get some credit (if the Saints win at Atlanta) for taking over a 1-7 team and going 6-3 as a starter.

It's a weak year for offensive ROY and QBs always get more credit for success than any other position. Those factors combined with leading a complete 180 for his team after becoming the starter could allow a 1/2 year player to win the award.
