Fake offer:

Saints offer the Jets the 16th and 19th for the Jets 4th overall.

The Jets would have the 10th, 16th and 19th picks.

I can see us trying to trade up because we always do.

I went into a mock draft simulator and the following trade works:

Saints trade #16 and #19 to the Jets for #4 and #111

I took Ikem Ekwonu with Pick #4.

saints dont care about needs on draft day, they prove this every year

they will make a trade to give up both firsts to get in the top 10 and get 1 guy, its just what they do

all we can hope for is its a day 1 starter and not a project player

i see us entertaining the 4th or 5th pick if Neal drops.

I see us entertaining the 10th pick if Neal or Hamilton drop

Agreed and we can get this. I hope that's the plan.

Remember the last time the Saints had 2 picks within close range to each other. Needed a safety They traded those picks to Arizona for 6th overall and drafted Jonathan Sullivan from UGA. Passed up on Troy Polamula
I hope they don’t do anything like that.

Or it may be a project CB from Nebraska that stays in the league for 2 years......

Not sure if you can use past performance as an indicator for this draft. How much of that was Payton, and how much was Loomis/Ireland. Did Allen draft for need in Oak, or was he BPA?

If I recall correctly, Haslett would draft more for need; although, it can be argued there were so many needs under Haslett you can't tell if it was need or BPA. But that was so long ago I can't recall the specifics

What is the deal with trading up? They are in really good position to draft OT and WR, two huge positions of need.

When is the last time we traded up for our first pick?

I'll give you the answer.

Marcus Davenport at #11 (from 270 in 2018 and before that Sedrick Ellis at #7 (from #10) in 2008

2018 1st (27th) and 5th (147TH)
2019 1st (30th)

So lets just look at it as simply a trade of picks, is a 7th pick worth a 27th and 147th this year and a 30th next year?

I do believe picking up a WR and a solid OT in the 1st is necessary. Also, picking decent players in other rounds but semi-tank next year to pick up a QB in the 1st.

Next years QB class is way more solid than this year (from what I see).

Jameis is good no doubt but I don't see him being an elite QB.
