Brett, look at it this way- the waiting game sucks but the longer the appeal sits on Goodell's desk, the longer SP and Loomis are allowed to work with the team. The 6-8 weeks starting in mid-March is the most critical time for football operations. The draft, the free agency signing period and contract negotiations are more important than any other event, save for the actual games on Sunday.

Though we all want this mess resolved and Brees's contract finished so we're out of limbo, I'm thankful the FO has had the past few weeks to sign who we've signed and evaluated all the players we've needed to for the draft. I wouldn't be mad if Goodell didn't decide on the appeal until the day after the draft.

I can believe that Benson was there celebrating something, but I doubt it was about Sean Payton. It could be a number of things (Parcells agreed to coach, NBA accepted his bid for the Hornets, family celebration). It also seems odd that Goodell would tell them the outcome of the appeal privately and then wait at least 3 days before making it public.

Good post, but most of that you mentioned is Loomis's job and his suspension doesnt start till the season starts i think. But the longer the process, the longer Payton is around and thats a good thing.

mother of god be true!

yes, loomis' suspension doesnt start until the season starts.

im really curious as the the boundaries of the suspension. i heard that payton can still call his coaches, just cant come in and interact and "coach."

sounds weird as shite, but who knows. i expect that itll be reported on tomorrow or tuesday.

until then...

If the suspension is reduced I'll still see the saints hiring parcells but as a consultant instead

From someone who spotted Benson at Mr. John's steakhouse allegedly "celebrating" the appeal results.

Take this news with a grain of salt....only time will tell.

This will soon be confirmed via @AdarnSchefter on twitter.

Seriously hope this is true. Maybe the plan will be to stagger Vitt's and Payton's suspensions so they can use Vitt as interim. If we get Payton back even half the season we can go ahead and book the Super Bowl.

So did Roger lie to Benson, did Benson lie to the people at Mr. John's, did the people from Mr. Johns lie to the people on here, or did the people on here lie to the rest of us on here? Someone obviously lied somewhere. Like I said, if this was all true, it would have been out everywhere in the media like it is now, no way could it have been kept a secret.

The guy at mr johns either misinterpreted benson or didn't talk to him at all and just made it up

And I don't think anyone texted him. He covered his arse by saying Vega texted him the same thing his FB post said. And because he kept saying it was "speculation". Look if someone I trusted told me something(someone actually did, check my post on page 4) I'm not going to call it speculation. I'm going to back it. He took his FB post down for a reason. Prob got a ton of reaction and he wasn't so sure himself.

Yeah, but if you are going to post a "rumor" don't go back when it is proven wrong and try and cover your tracks by editing what you posted.
