In the top ten, if we could get a QB or two, OJ Howard, Fournete AND McCaffery, and/or Reuben Foster then someone is getting squeezed down. I see three possibles that would likely be must-picks on value alone. Do you agree they are must-picks? Who would excite you the most as a selection? What if two of them were available? (stranger has happened)

Malik Hooker
He has some injury dings and the lack of starting time but looks like a deluxe backend playmaker. This has been missing since Sharper left.

Jonathan Allen

He isn't a perfect fit for need but you can't turn him down if you see the Michael Bennett comparisons. Turn the front seven into a feared unit.

Marshon Lattimore
The need at corner will rise or fall if the Butler deal happens or not. If yes, wait until later probably. I'm not as high on Lattimore as others but he still might be a must-pick if avaialble even if the Butler deal goes down.

I could see all 3 falling, I could even see Jamal Adams dropping if QBs and RBs make a run and the Chargers fall in love with Hooker.

Having said that, I don't think Adams makes it past the Bears, let alone the Titans or San Diego

I think that everyone is sort of speculating that teams will end up going QB last-minute because it has happened every other year, but I think this is the first year that it does not happen. I wouldn't be surprised to see no QBs drafted before the 20s, honestly. Because of this, I don't see any of the blue-chip defensive talent making it to us. I'm hopeful, but don't see it. We will be either taking an offensive player, reaching for a defensive player like Barnett, or trading down.

I actually think the opposite.

I can see the 49ers starting a trend which would lead to the Jets and Bills taking QBs as well. All it takes is one team to start it

Would have to be Jonathan Allen. Would almost immediately bolster our d-line.

Would love to see Solomon Thomas drop here instead. But wouldn't be upset with Allen.

Personally think these Buckeye DB's are overrated, whereas the Florida DB's are criminally underrated. The fact we may be able to get one of those guys as late as the 32nd or even the 42nd makes the Allen pick even more appealing.

Id love to have any of those three, but I don't think theres much of a chance they fall to 11. I think its more likely for howard, LF or mccaffery to fall.

Trubinsky, let's project just one QB
Fournette to Jax
McCaffery Carolina
OJ Howard 6-10 somewhere
One WR, Williams or Davis 6-10

That's 5 spots

I put Garrett, Thomas, and Adams in the no way in hell available category, so that's 8 spots total. That's leaving Hooker, Allen, and Lattimore on the board with two picks to go. That leaves at least one of them to the Saints.

The more I look, the more this exciting possibility seems it could happen.

I hope you're right, but the talent is definitely not there in the QB class and it would be foolish to reach that hard in the top 8 considering the elite players available in this draft.

That's not accounting for any unexpected top ten pick. There's always surprises.

Another related thread: Surprise Top Ten Draft Picks 2017

I'd nominate OT Ramczyk and LB Reddick

Malik Hooker

Probably my #1 wish, out of those with a somewhat realistic shot of being there.

I'm usually wrong on this ala dukkeV so I'm going with "no way any of the defensive studs drop to us...especially Solomon Thomas!".

Would FAP for sure. Just have to hope Adams falls to the Chargers.

If that happens then Hooker WILL fall. But if Adams goes before San Diego then there's no chance. But I'd love Hooker. Then we could go pass rush at 32 then CB at 42, pass rush again at 76.

Offensive guy at 103. Profit

The other scenario to consider is no qb is taken and with Cleveland at 12 we can trade back with Arizona. They would take a qb and then the saints can pick up a 3rd and still get a good player.

And the Saints wont take one of those guys....they will take some guy that has a history of torn ACLs

A 3rd to move up 2 spots? If so, I would be ecstatic.

If no QB is taken by the 11th pick. I'm sure the Saints will get a few calls and someone will try to leap in front of Cleveland at 12 spot. Houston is only team I really see trying to do it, I don't think the Saints want to fall back that far in first round unless the offer is unbelieveable. Even if Trubisky comes off the board to the 49ers or Chargers seeing who is taken in Top 10 should be interesting.

Maybe, but I just don't see SF taking a QB at #2. I don't think any of the QBs are worth the #2 pick. I think SF desperately wants out of #2. However, who wants to move up that far? Maybe Carolina to get Fournette, but that's about it. I see the Jets being the team to start a "QB run" (if there is one).

Everyone keeps projecting the Saints to take a pass-rusher. Maybe I'm wrong, but I get the feeling (justified or not) that the Saints might be more content with the DL than fans/media. I think they REALLY want to improve the secondary. If one of the OSU dbs are there I think the Saints grab one. If not, I wouldn't be shocked to see Howard or McCaffery (assuming they are still there at 11) in the Black and Gold
