It is not a question of Dak's accuracy, as that video shows numerous times Dak checked down or ran when Dez was breaking open. Dak cannot read the field

I watched another video and it showed that Dez just doesn't get as much separation on go routes that he used to, but that in other routes, like digs, outs, etc. that he was still able to get some distance on some corners.
We're not going to be asking him to run a ton of go routes. He's going to work the short and intermediate with Thomas while Smith runs deep. So instead of Thomas and Watson being the short/intermediate threats, it will be Thomas/Dez, which will be more potent, especially if Kamara is running short to intermediate routes as well. Teams aren't going to be able to bracket Kamara or Thomas anymore.
ETA: Teams are going to have to play more zone and blitz from zone in order to slow us down. Playing man and blitzing will free up Kamara underneath. If they double Kamara underneath then that will leave Dez and Thomas one on one with some pour soul. If they double Thomas then Dez and Kamara will be one on one with someone. Teams will be forced to play more zone now.

Cam Meredith has taken 80% of his snaps in the slot. If Dez takes 40% of these, it's an upgrade.
Now, assume we use 88 out wide as well. We now have he and Mike, two physical receivers. Because of Mike and AK, there is simply no way teams can put more than 1 guy on Dez. Worst case scenario, even if he is washed up and can't get open, etc, he can still go up and get jump balls- that was the one skill that never disappeared from his game.
Once that happens 2-3 times and teams start to honor it by going with 5-6 DB's, then we utilize the best offensive line in the NFL and run it down their effing throats with our pro bowl running backs. It is the true definition of pick your poison.
Last week on a key 3rd down we threw a lob to our 3rd string TE, Dan Arnold. Arnold has 2 career catches. From a very simplistic standpoint, don't you like your chances better with Dez on that jump ball than with Arnold?
This signing is not a knock on Trequan Smith whatsoever. He has a different skill set than Dez. Smith is our deep threat who stretches the field, he plays very similar to Robert Meacham in 2009, except Smith is faster.
This is a low risk signing that offers its most impactful benefit based on what it can do for other people. I cannot wait to see how good Dez looks with the most accurate QB in NFL history throwing him the ball. Anyone who does not recognize the leap he can take simply by going from Prescott to Brees is kidding themselves. Combine that with the infrastructure of the Saints compared to the God awful Dallas Cowboys, and I think this is a great move by Sean and company. It's go time boys

The knock on Bryant was always his lazy route running. Well that and his attitude. I can't imagine his attitude would be a problem here, especially with a all of the parts in place for him to be successful.
And maybe his route running was a little lazy, but he still put up great numbers with Romo. I realize a good portion of that was Romo improvising after the play broke down and just chunking it up to Bryant who's a physical 6'2". He's just going to have to make sure he's where he's supposed to be when the ball comes out just like every other receiver on this team. If he can do that then he should easily be productive. He's got to be a better option than Carr, Arnold, and Meredith. That's about the least productive trio of receivers that Payton's ever had.

We will have smith and ginn for GO routes once teddy is back. Dez can be used also on back shoulder fades and other things in red zone as well as everything underneath.

I'm assuming everyone's watched Dak Prescott trying to complete passes when the opposing defense KNOWS he has to complete a pass, as opposed to the throws on running downs off of play action when Elliott has things rolling...and therefore has a pretty solid take on this whole "accuracy" thing vis-a-vis Brees vs. Prescott, right?

two words. Ben Watson. Drew has made him look all pro, so what do you think hes going to do with Dez Bryant??

I just don’t see a option for a team other than 2 high and hope DB9 fricks up. LBs are going to find themselves mismatched against Kamara and DBs are going to find themselves fighting off linemen at the second level.

While playing with Tony Romo as his primary quarterback between 2010 and 2014 (Matt Cassell was the primary quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys in 2015) Bryant caught 62.5% of his passes. That’s a good number. With Prescott as his quarterback from 2016 to 2017, he caught 52.2% of his targets. While that 10-point drop can’t be placed solely on the shoulders of Prescott, ball placement from a quarterback is certainly a variable. Romo is the fifth-most accurate quarterback in NFL history, tied with Peyton Manning. When the Saints signed Ted Ginn, Jr. in 2017, his catch percentage jumped 19 points after being paired with Drew Brees.
Nice little point here about Ted Ginn once he got to NOLA. Catch % rises with a good QB, who knew

This.... I can see him as a big redzone player. He doesn't need to be "peak Dez"... he just needs to be a reliable 3rd or 4th option for Drew. Drew is probably doing some baby making tonight because he is so excited to have Dez as a 3rd option.

96 targets and almost 900 yards isn't exactly good, fwiw. ETA: Sorry, it was 132 targets.
I’ll take 7 yards a catch. That’s 132 time u only needs 3 yards in 3 plays to get a first down.
