I was one of the very few who badly wanted the Saints to take Mahomes back in the 2017 draft. Mahomes had the perfect blend of film, physical measurables & character traits.
With that said, Dart is NOWHERE NEAR the NFL prospect that was Mahomes was back in 2017. The Dart talk is similar to another QB who was taken in 2017. Mitch Trubusky. Just like Trubusky people are valuing physical measurables over college offensive system & flaws that show up on film. Not to mention there's nothing about Dart's physical measurables that jumps off the chart & screams top 10 pick.
Dart at #9 is an extreme reach for a QB coming out of college offensive system like Kiffin's, who consistently came up short in big moments & big games & who at times struggled heavily with post snap reads against better defenses.
A top 10 should have the potential to be your day one starter. That isn't Dart. He's a project. At #40 I can see taking the risk but at #9, it's comparable to the Bears mistake with Mitch Trubusky.

On one hand I don’t really like him as a prospect…but on the other hand, there’s the hope he’d bring, that he could be good and it’s someone not named Derek Carr starting at QB for us, I’ve seen that movie and it’s crap. Brings some intrigue to a season I’m not all that excited about

I don't know about the board, but I wanted Mahomes. I was disappointed when we got jumped by KC. Lattimore was a great 2nd choice though.

The Saints had two 1st round draft picks that year. 11 & 32. The team took Lattimore & Ramczyk. Saints fan my arse.
Also, if you look at the date of the post, it was before Mahomes was actually viewed as a 1st round pick.

Media hyped rising QBs never meet the hype. This is agents hiring consultants to artificially inflate a players potential/value.
I hope the Saints are better at sticking to the values before the paid media hype began.

More times than not, this is correct but Mahomes wasn't one of those guys. Original mocks after the end of the 2017 college season had Mahomes going in the 3rd round & he ended going 11th overall.

True. I don't think Mahomes draft rise was media/agent driven. I believe it was actually the opposite. Three teams were hit on him and they were trying their best to keep it a off the radar.
That could happen this draft but unlikely to be one of the hyped darlings.
