27- Arden Key DE LSU
91- Mark Andrews TE Oklahoma
127- Kurt Benkert QB Virginia
147- Trey Quinn WR SMU
164- Dimitri Flowers FB Oklahoma
189- Darius Flowers CB Western Michigan
201- Greg Stroman CB Virginia Tech
245- Van Smith S Clemson

Boys, those first 5 picks would be a grand slam.

Third pick would be a waste. Less than 60% completion percentage and 11 picks as a senior. Why spend your third pick on a guy unlikely to see a meaningful snap as a saint. Jmo

Still iffy on Key as well. He was nonexistent this year and has a lot of red flags. Andrews at 91 would be a coup

This board couldn't handle an LSU 1st round pick.

9 in 509 attempts isn't terrible

Drew Brees threw 44 picks in 3 seasons for reference

Matt Miller kinda sucks though

I’m not really worried about college QB stats in regards to their pro potential. Who knows what kind of talent he had around him at Virginia.

I did watch them a few times and Benkert looked ok to me

Drew Brees threw 12 picks and for a 60% completion percentage in 2000. Guess what year in college he was that year.

Was it the year he finished 3rd or 4th in the heisman voting? Are we going to compare every QB mocked to the saints to Brees? Do you really see this guy ever starting for the saints? I just think it’s a wasted pick when there are holes elsewhere to be addressed. You want a QB for the future then prepare to trade up to the top of the draft in this class

I don't think Key goes in the first round. There's been a bunch of red flags raised this past year with all the weird crap with him. I'd take him in Rd. 3, but pass rushers are a premium, so somebody will take him early 2nd.

No, but your speaking points suck. You have no argument.

I really hope the Saints take their chances on another later round pick for QB before either moving up to a top five pick or earning one..

My point is he hasn’t really shown anything to indicate he can be a starter in this league and has a 6-7 round grade. Therefore, I feel like drafting him with your third pick is fricking stupid. That’s my point.

No o-line help in a draft deep with lineman? Not likely I’d say.

No Ohio State players in that mock. This mock is bs.

Pick #127 is a waste. Would much rather a backup OG/OT at this pick.

We aren't drafting a damn FB.

And why are we drafting two CBs?

This draft sucks.

I like it a lot, other than Key and Benkert. If you swapped in Sam Hubbard at 27 and Shaquem Griffin at 127 it would be a homerun draft imo

So, Key, who is a 3-4 OLB, a QB that sucks, and a Fullback.

Ok.

While maybe to a lesser degree, many of the same "red flags" about Key were there for Clowney coming out after his Junior year. Clowney had a monster soph. season and then "got lazy" in his junior year. Despite those worries, he has been a pro bowl player for Houston.

Now Key isn't quite the physical freak that Clowney is. That matters. However, from the very first game he played for LSU he showed that he can rush the QB. A pass rusher is one of the positions that can affect everything and no team can have too many of.

I don't think there is any question Key was already looking past LSU following his soph. season. I think pretty much every decision he made was not done with LSU's benefit in mind, but Key's. The weight gain. The late shoulder surgery was all done with an eye on the NFL, not LSU. Of course, he will have to explain the "leave of absence".

There absolutely is a risk with Key and I completely understand why teams would pass. But he may be one of the best 5 pass rusher in the draft. The film doesn't lie. At pick 1, 5, 15, the potential reward may not outweigh the potential risk. But at 27 it may because many of the other player you had rated above him would likely be gone.

Key is going to be a 3-4 guy. Doesn't fit us at all imo.
