The Dolphins cut Williams today, worth a shot at DE, opposite Jordan?

I think he has made so much money it would not be worth it. I dont think he ever really loved football as much as he loved the life it provided for him. The guy has made 120 million dollars already. I just dont think even as a rental he fits what we are or what we are trying to accomplish.

its been 2 years since hes produced. one of those years he was openly defiant with the coaching staff and cut and the other he was benched and cut.

last year i wouldve said that the situation with rex was dysfunctional and this worth a shot but after being dropped in miami with what would be pretty much ideal setup for him... if he didnt produce hes either completely checked out mentally or has hit the wall physically. i didnt watch enough dolphins football to judge which.

i was pro Mario last year but i don't think this year did anything to convince me much that he's a solution going forward.

Vet min for camp competition. Not likely he'll bite, but not worth any more risk.

id venture thats a bit of an understatement for a guy that has banked over 100m and doesnt seem to be passionate about the game or have ties to the team/city.

Exactly, and for what he pretty much still wants to get in the way of $$$, Saints would be fools to roll the dice on someone who seems to have lost interest on the field...

But he is also on the same d-line as suh and c. wake so him shining is difficult with those two monsters.

If he would take "flyer" money. He won't. Saints defensive locker room can't be strong enough to handle him if he is a diva.

He has had a decent career. As mentioned, he does not LOVE football.

jabaal sheard may be worth a flyer even though he seemed to have fallen out of favor up in new england this year.

This is true for 95 percent of the players in the NFL.

yes but he has made so much he doesnt need to pretend to care anymore and probably doesnt based on his stats and overall attitude since getting 3 ridiculous pay days. 120 mill can run a small country. we want people that are still trying to work and add to their 401Ks.

Also any performance based deal would also result in selfish play. He would only be trying to accrue stats and would not be playing team defense. A guy always going sacks never plays the run or holds blocks to free up other defenders.

Agreed but most NFL players haven't made $120M. Most NFL players, even vets, will dedicate themselves for one more year on the way out the door because they've "only" made a few million (which is probably mostly gone). Mario Williams has made "frick you" money and if he still has even a third of that, playing for $500k isn't going push him if he isn't motivated from a love of the game.
