early projections put tua dropping into the mid to below half way point in the first round since any team taking him knows he wont be able to play until 2021 at the earliest

all this depends on good reports the surgery went well and as expected

im not loving the idea of us getting him because he will not be able to play without getting hurt again, with his history of injury we should hard pass on him if he even drops down to be there on our time on the clock

you had me until

However Tua (who is a better prospect when healthy) will probably go outside of the top 10.

how is he better?????? are you insane??

it's fine if they are 1a 1b, but he is not better

also, he's always hurt.. so how is he better if he's always having surgeries..

I don't know if Tua is going to be a good NFL QB or not, the odds are against it for just about every prospect, but given that Brees is likely to come back one more time, that does make NOLA kind of a perfect landing spot for him if he's not able to play in 2020.

Maybe we should make sure Tua will actually be able to play at a decent level again before wishing him on the Saints.

The injury thing could be a concern but all teams will have access to him and his medicals before the draft. Hell, Tua could end up going back to school. He’s still 14 months younger than Burrow

quote:

I wouldn't be so sure Tua could though. Brady's system is similar to Payton's system which requires a smart web that can read a defense very well.

Joe seems to be Miles ahead of not only Tua but most college level qbs in that regard

I mean I believe Bama has had 4 different OCs during Tua’s tenure and he has put up numbers playing under 3 of em surely you’re not implying he cannot learn a system or read a defense. By your logic, Burrows performance under difference systems should be a red flag

oh idk, Tua has just been a near perfect QB for going on 3 years now

Tua does not have to thread the needle very often. His receivers get wide open often. He has an above average O-line blocking for him. He scrambles well to keep plays alive.
If he goes to a NFL team that has a poor O-line he could get hurt quickly.

I don't think this question is going to be answered in a real way before April, so some team is going to have to decide whether or not to take a risk.

Tua might not go first round. I would spend a late 1st round pick and get him.

Deuce went to Ole Miss. We can forgive a guy for his choice of colleges.

The Saints won't pursue either of these QBs

I’ll take whoever Payton thinks the beat QB is. I don’t give a shite where they played college at and I think it’s stupid when people put emphasis on that.

Yeah may not like Alabama as my nephew's wife has family but they are UT Volunteer fans. But feel horrible for Tua. Hope it does not end his career. Same injury Bo Jackson had remember?!

Jackson continued to play on his, causing irreparable injury. They are saying they caught Tua’s early enough to where he should make a full recovery

We do like taking injured QBs and fixing them.

I also love how much he works the middle of the field as a college qb.

The NFL is the opposite though. You have to be able to make extremely accurate sideline throws. The middle is clogged.

That’s one of the most incorrect things I’ve seen on this board maybe ever.

The middle has been opened up for years now in the nfl. The fact that burrow isn’t afraid to attack it bodes very well for his future.

Just No..

If he falls to us, whereever we are maybe, but frick trading up, especially trading up for a broken player.

btw I'd take Joe's football IQ and dedication to excellence over Tua's athletic ability and raw talent any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

But in general, baring a real shocker we won't get either on of these guys.

It's more open than it used to be for sure, but it's still a lot different than college.
