that is what this team (and many fans) are doing.

Rams had an awesome run (albeit brief compared to the Saints) under Vermeil and Martz and then faded out under a string of woulda beens (Linehan, Spags) and has beens (Jeff Fisher) until they changed everything up and became a contender again.

there needs to be a reckoning with all the cap money continually kicked down the road. dumb 1st round picks and trades, questionable contracts (Taysom) and free agent pick ups have lead to this point. not to mention the QB guru former coach did not line up a successor to Brees.

tl;dr: Saints got a long road ahead.

There's nothing about the franchise (owner, gm, coach, etc.) that shows any sign that it can be rebuilt.

The Saints are going to be a perennial bottom feeder.

Not a lot of players can say they accomplished what he did against Seattle. He's one of the most dynamic players we've had on this team, he was worth the money. Not saying I disagree with anything else you said, you summed up some of my observations as well.

Need to bite the bullet and gut the team of coaching staffs and bad contracts, suck for a couple years, and bring in a young gun with an offensive mind combined with a high draft pick and start from there.

Yep.

Saints wanted continuity with a zero upside bum like Dennis Allen and doubled down with keeping Pete Carmichael also. Now they have continuity in the staff, just without a franchise QB and an innovative head coach.

Saints deserve everything happening to them. A comedy of errors from the 2020 offseason on.

The Saints were one of the biggest loser teams in the league for half a century..

and we've been arguably one of the most consistently competitive teams for the last 15 years
