My guess is that in the eyes of the current coaching staff, Dekkers showed he is no worse than the others on roster. If he is not worse then he deserves a chance to compete. The QB room is now a survivor room. Someone will rise and other will fall.

Nope! A players contract is often a determination of who is on the roster and who is on the field. This is especially true at the QB position. This is a rarity situation for the saints because none of the QBs have a contract that gives them leverage over the others.

ummm.... shough's contract gives them tremendous leverage over say a Haener or Rattler. look i sort of see what you're trying to argue but at the same time, every room in this building has immense competition.

Saints are taking the "throw shite against the wall and see what sticks" approach I see. I don't mind, it's better than overpaying Rodgers or some other washed up QB.

So wait yall ok with the Saints signing this guy who was illegally gambling for not 1 not 2 but 3 freaking years. then going Pete Rose getting banned by the NCAA. Not one mention of attitude or character. But lil Primetime would have been the worse thing ever in a Saints uniform lol

I'm not an athlete on a team... but I know a lot of people who do a bunch of little bets on their phone. For them, it's literally like a video game, and they follow sports well enough to break even or make a small profit. And quite honestly, although I myself don't do that, I don't think any of the guys who do (and a couple girls too) are "character issue" people. A couple of them are actually what you'd call "high character" folks, people who are natural leaders or who'd you want having your back. They just played around with a little disposable income, didn't burn any holes in their wallet etc.
The stuff I've seen of Sanders is a different story entirely. Who knows, he might be a great guy in person.
