No, fire Loomis and Allen. Get a real gm.
You can bring in any coach not named BB and they'll still struggle. Personnel decisions for 4 years have crippled this team, that's on the gm. We need a respected DC too. Not some joke. We need a Mike Nolan or wade Phillips to take over, someone who knows his personnel limitations and adjusts. Week 1 was dumb with Harris on Diggs and lattimore in zone. Week 2 was atrocious with everything else.

Start looking today.
Be ready 1 sec after last game to hire your new coach.

Right now? No. Because I do not see a better option. Finish the year out, and if its another 7-9 season, or even worse, which is possible, then make the move.
Loomis? Gtfo. I also believe this team desperately needs ownership, because they basically don't have it right now. Benson is so old and clueless.

Today? no. End of the year? yes. The regime has run it's course.

Firing Sean today does nothing to advance the franchise or assist in long term goals of improving the team. It is a half measure at best.
Drew Brees with Joe Vitt as HC won 7 games in 2012.
Unless you are willing to bench Drew till he rescinds his no trade clause it doesn't do you much good to fire Sean.
Drew is still more than capable on his own merit of playing us out of a beneficial draft position.
If you are going to blow the team up, you need to fully commit. I don't think the organization is willing to do that.
Sean and Drew will be allowed to finish the season and everything will be addressed in the offseason most likely.
Loyalty to the past will bite this organization one more time. Your only option right now as a fan is to hope we catch lightning in a bottle and at least make the season interesting.

No
They need to fire loomis and create some type of legitimate hierarchy

This above all else needs to happen. I just don't see how it could.

I've been wanting to fire him since 2014, why should today be any different
Posted on 9/18/17 at 2:18 pm to Hoodoo Man
I will hold off on saying that I think he needs to go NOW because I'm not sure if firing a coach mid season does any good for the long run.
But I will say this... CSP's own stubbornness will be his undoing, just like it was for Miles. His inability to win games more than one way is glaring... defenses seem to have caught up with our strategy offensively and he refuses to adjust his scheme/playcalling accordingly.. our defense is abysmal, everyone knows that, yet he does absolutely nothing to shorten the game and minimalize the amount of possesions the other team gets.. we have three very different, yet very capable running backs and outside of MT, ZERO depth at the WR position. Yet we still throw the ball what seems like 85% of the time. Our playcalling is way too predictable
I know this place has pretty much been burned to the ground since week 1, but honestly, I don't think we are too far off from being competitive. I just think he needs an offensive reboot, but I'm not sure we will see it happen..
Also, drew is playing fine. Any blame that goes towards him for the first two weeks in unwarranted and unfair IMO
ETA2 - Purely a hypothetical - CSP isn't the problem... what if he leaves and lights it up somewheres else and our problem the whole time was at the very top of the organization (loomis, benson, etc)...
seems like just weeks ago, this board invented the verb 'loomising' and was constantly singing his praises..

As an outsiders perspective, something is gone. I actually hope CSP stays as long as he wants and that should tell you something.
Something is just... missing... there now. Can't explain it but before he was definitely in our heads.

Loomis fricking blows too, but CSP favoring friends and players is/was a huge problem. And SP has a tremendous amount of input on personnel

Here's the thing. I don't think Loomis sucks at what he is asked to do. It appears based on the info that we have that SP, along with the pro and college scouting people, is completely in charge of talent evaluation. Mickey is a numbers guy. An ops guy. He's going to sign the guys who he's asked to sign.. and in the end I think he's done that pretty well. You can bitch all you want about dead money and bad contracts but I feel like that situation was Sean saying "hey, I want Jairus Byrd. We're gonna scheme for him, can you get him?" and Loomis fulfilling that. To that end, I just don't see a real problem there. All things considered the "Loomis Math" thing is kind of real... We've been able to make moves, the players just didn't work.
The problem with Loomis is not necessarily anything that he has done. It's more the actual fact that he is not a talent evaluator and so Payton has to be. For this reason I advocate getting rid of him... not because I think he's done a bad job. But there is clearly something to be said for a GM who knows football, see Denver.

I'm sorry, but the GM is the coach's boss. After so many failed player signings that put us in such a shitty spot, he should have put his foot down
Posted on 9/18/17 at 2:37 pm to Hoodoo Man
No. Not until Benson and loomis also gone. If Benson sold team tomorrow then I'd say yes.
Posted on 9/18/17 at 2:38 pm to Hoodoo Man
Yes.
Firing him now would probably hurt the team but it isn't like they are going to make the playoffs anyway.

Yes, I think Payton can be a good coach but his message is extremely stale in NO. He has very little respect in the locker room it seems.

Which players are you referring to?

that seems like an awful, shortsighted reason for firing someone, but whatever
