that seems like an awful, shortsighted reason for firing someone, but whatever

No he should be fired because he's lost his touch and most likely never going to get better with this team. You know you're in for another losing season even with him.

Hell no.

You at least want him to keep trying to develop the young players. You need to evaluate player improvement from here on out.

Still way too early in the season for even thinking of firing him. At this point who will you get that is better? It is obvious Sean Payton is a good coach as long as he has a decent defensive coordinator ,but it is obvious we haven't had one since Gregg Williams. If you get to the 12th game of the season and we are like 2-10, 3-9 than go ahead and do it. I will say if you fire him than just blow it up completely and do a ground up rebuild.

so new gm and new coach creates hierarchy? or does it only create hierarchy when the GM makes all football personnel decisions? There's been some apparent tension between Loomis and Payton over past year or two. That tells me there still lies hierarchy within organization and accountability.

Why is when these D coordinators get fired from the saints they go somewhere else and produce top defenses? Spags had the worst defense in NFL history, goes to giants after us and their D is ballin.

It's called having a pass rush, spags walked into a hell of a d-line, no QB pressure no defense

Is firing Benson an option in the poll.

No but I imagine the votes for a new owner,GM and HC would be extremely high taken today

Today no, at the end of the season. Let Brees walk and fire Payton.

I'll hold off judgment to the end of the season but I'm leaning towards parting ways IF we could find a suitable alternative. I'd do in a heartbeat if we could get someone like Harbaugh but that's a pipe dream. Realistically we'd probably get some lackluster retread.

I would, however, be willing to give Payton another year if we let Loomis go.
